Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from Warren & Newcastle. Good luck, punters!
We have a Gai and Adrian cast-off here in the shape of 3YO Reset filly named INTENSE PASSION. She was moved on from Tulloch Lodge after failing in 4 x barrier trials and has ended up at the Mudgee barn of David Smith. She is having her 2nd race start here and has the rails draw. Off her debut run, with Smith as her trainer, she ran a slashing 3rd at this level. She drew deep that day, at Dubbo, but sped across and sat on the outside of a fast-paced race. She ran 3rd and the winner has since placed at Cl 1 level.
Tip: INTENSE PASSION
The horses who just keep improving every start while they are young, always appeal to me. The Kim Waugh trained UNDERBOSS is one of those horses. He’s only a 3YO but his pedigree suggests he will like this trip and although he’s been double figure odds at all his three starts to date, today they will back him and rightly so. Was up on pace all the way when a battling 3rd this grade last start and should be fitter.
He will be a big price but I think old THREE SHEETS is going to run a big race here. You probably find that hard to believe considering his form. He hasn’t won for 4 years, in fact has been beaten at his past 31 starts and last start he was 8th at this track, over this trip in a similar race. But, he has raced against Redzel, Le Romain, Seige of Quebec and, while that was back in his hey day, back then those stars beat him by only 4 lengths. He’s not that horse anymore, but this isn’t as strong as that either. He likes it damp and he gets a soft track here. AL SNIP is a gutsy filly who is in form. Quinella them.
