Oh, I just live for these type of races. Leading trainer Matty Dunn has two in this. One, MARSHALL DILLON, is unraced. The other one, MASPOETA, has raced 4 times at this level and placed 4 times. He is obviously pretty smart and will test these. BUT….Dunn has his top rider on the unraced horse, who has won a barrier trial. I’ll be following that lead. I’m all over Marshall Dillon. Quinella them up.

This race fascinates me. I always think the Gwenda Markwell horses run better at this track than any other. And she has 2 in this. The inform DOCTOR MANCINI and the toppie BIG DATA. He is out of form but she has Tommy Berry on him, strongly suggesting she likes that horse more. Hmmmm, either way, I think HIGHBURY might finish best and beat them both. He has been strong since resuming, placing twice from 3 runs at this level. Is super fit now and trip looks ideal. Plate conditions suit him as well. I’ll toss the Markwell pair in as Exacta bets behind him.

This is a pretty deep race for the grade. I like the Chris Waller 3YO named LUBUK. I know he’s won just the once in a low key mdn at the Gold Coast, and has not won in 15 other starts. But two things grab me. Firstly, he was a good finishing 5th in a very strong BM 70 last start and it was in very heavy going. That was when resuming. So should strip fitter. The other was back in December last year when he was only 5 lengths behind the brilliant Alligator Blood while carrying the same weight. I like him here from  RUTHLESS AGENT.
