Interesting encounter. Lots and lots on perennial non-winners in this. Therefore, I like the toppie CAPITAL VENTURE. And only then because he is super fit with this being his 5th start this time up and because he has the great draw – comes out of gate 2. Opened up this campaign with a pair 2nd placings, one of which was in a stronger maiden than this. Probably hunts up to be about 4th on the fence saving all the ground and then when he peels off and finds clear air in the straight he looks to out-plug this mob. Perhaps WANDA BEACH who gets back and runs on, can do that and grab 2nd on the line.

Good betting race. I was on MISS KEIRA each way last start at $16 over 1200m. It looked on paper for her, 2nd up, to be too short but I just sensed while fresh she might sprint well. She didn’t. She came from the rear and was working home to grab 6th. Today, 3rd up, fitter, and over a trip that should suit her I will be again. She has drawn the extreme outside which I don’t mind because she will have to drop back to the tail. Most of these are plodders so if she gets to the outside her momentum should help her swoop late.

I liked mapping this race. I think the Canberra horse GUNGA DIN is fit enough, weighted well enough, is hungry enough to take advantage of the way this will be run. He steps from the middle gate, drops toward the tail and the long Moruya straight will help him. He charges over the top of them. Very confident.
