Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from &  Newcastle.  Good luck, punters!

I do think there will be enormous early pace in this scamper. It seems on paper, to be a particularly strong maiden. MISSION RIVER, who has been heavily backed overnight, has raced at gr 1 level. This may be too short for him but he clearly has talent. But I like the locally trained filly MISS CANADA. On her home track, 2nd up, I think they will just ride her out of the gates and try and lead. She is very nippy but her past couple of runs she has been held back to see if she can finish her races off. Go hard today I’m tipping. And drawn in gate 2, plus home track suits me.

It’s an interesting time when you see a Chris Waller galloper with James McDonald on who is not the favoured one of other Chris Waller-trained runners in the race. But this time I think he is staying solid to Brenton Avdulla here. He rides ZARZOU while Jay Mac is on the unraced, and well-backed BUCHAREST. I like form on the board and Zarzou has proven he can handle the mud and this level when a solid 3rd first-up. Fitter now. Maybe quinella them.

I did like the way SWEEPING BROOK took control of his maiden race last start and raced away. But he rises in grade here and weight and distance. That represents alarm bells to me. He will run well because he won on a heavy track last start but I do think if the experienced HUBBLE had been in that maiden race with that race etc, he probably wins just as far. And he is a seasoned campaigner who has form at this level. So for all that, and the fact he is super fit, I’m on Hubble to knock off the young rising star but I will quinella them.
