Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from Muswellbrook. Good luck, punters!
I think we can get the cash here with THIEVE. Rodney Northam and Robert Thompson, who have been combining to win races for years, link up again here with a youngster who is definitely, probably even profoundly, on the way up. He is bred to run all day being by Gr 1 stayer Kempinsky, and he has pace too. So I see him leading these a merry dance around here and once they turn for home, he won’t slow down. A leader with fight is gold in the bush and I just feel he is improving so much every start that today is his day. Topweight AYLIFFE, owned by rugby league immortal Bob Fulton, can plug home into 2nd spot.
On Saturday night I got on this big gangly grey horse named BOURIS. I think he will firm up a fair bit. Last start he was flashing home in his blue and red silks to grab 4th spot over 1050m in what looks likely to be a very, very strong maiden. He came from near the rear. The race was at Leeton of all places, not a joint you’d associate with strong maidens but the winner, if he were in this race, would be $1.20 and Bouris finished 2 lengths behind him. Should improve a great deal from that run and the extra journey is well in his favour. Just needs to avoid traffic. Should be a good battle down the running.
It’s a little hard to fathom, but yes, I’m on an old horse here who hasn’t won for years. His name is DRACHENFELS. I think he can cap a great day for jockey Robert Thompson by winning this Cup race. He is a get back type who has solid form around most of these. Does need luck in running down the home straight but they should pan wide here and the long straight suits him.
