Form student, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s Sandown meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all eight races on the card. It’s a twilight meeting this week. Good luck, punters!

Rail Position: Out 2m, entire circuit
Track Condition: Good 4

Fascinating race. Small field so anything can win and anything can happen. PERFECT PONY hasn’t been quite that perfect running 2nd at 3 of past 4 starts this grade so must be considered in this. SMILING CITY is the obvious danger. Dashed for a nice 3rd this grade last start and trip suits a great deal.

Tip: SMILING CITY

CHARLEVOIX is normally suited to this grade  Gets a welcome 2kg relief and that should turn him on. Recent efforts have been just behind the placegetters. BLUE JAY WAY is racing very consistently of late and has been up a while so is super fit. Will make presence felt. HIGH SIERRA will get the run of the race here and can improve on past two starts: both 2nd placings.

Tip: CHARLEVOIX

This former English import FUTURE SCORE looks particularly well placed. He rattled home to grab 4th this grade and trip last start at only his 2nd Aussie start. Much more acclimatized now! THE HUN resumes here after winning maiden prior to spell. Bred to stay all day. THINK ALIKE needs some luck. Has run 2nd at past 3 outings and must be respected in this.

Tip: FUTURE SCORE

WEE GILLY is at a trip and at a spot in his prep that really really suits. Good 2nd last start to fit him and gets 2kg claim to help. NOTHIN’ LEICA HIGH was desperately unlucky when hard finishing 2nd this grade, then came out last start and in a two-horse war down the lane was beaten a nostril. Surely, surely it’s his time to salute. SO ABLE is in form winning 2 of past 3 but they have been in easier races. Big show.

Tip: NOTHIN’ LEICA HIGH

Back in December OUR GLADIATOR sat off the pace with 59kg and an apprentice on top, yet won a BM 64 at Caulfield. Past two starts have been in BM70 grade and has run 3rd both times. Racing well enough, therefore, to challenge these.  MUSIC BAY is highly gifted. Didn’t show it last campaign in 4 starts but is resuming here, and in a very strong stable. Will be heavily backed and should be followed. DUECOURSE has placed many times without winning over the past 6 months in this grade and looks set to do the same again. Sure to show up.

Tip: MUSIC BAY

Lottery. Anything can win so bet warily. A thousand runners at BM 64 grade. Good luck. Probably because WALTONIA has saluted at past 2 starts she rates highly but is up in weight here. MYSTERY LOVE is up a long way in grade but may be pretty smart having led all the way to very easily win her maiden last start at Benalla. Watch betting. UPTOWN LOLA won her maiden when resuming and has since placed this grade. So being 3rd up makes her a chance.

 Tip: MYSTERY LOVE

TAVIRUN resumes here and has a 3kg help too. Has a lot of class when right and has drawn ideally. Should give your money a good sight. EIGHTEEN CARROT seems gifted. Was just behind a couple of extra smart types on debut in Sydney then was spelled. Since resumed at this track and came with a cracking run to win his maiden in useful time this trip. Must be respected on that effort alone. Looks smart. GRETZKY is handy this level and will be up on speed all the way.

Tip: EIGHTEEN CARROT

Interesting race to end the day on. DANON ROMAN may end up your best bet of the day. He has more talent than these but does like it a little longer and is resuming here. Saying all that, his only Aussie campaign was winless but he was impressive in better grade. Respect him a great deal while fresh as he has won first up before. Might just be a 1 2 3 saddlecloth trifecta as KAZIO and STREET SPUN look the most likely to challenge.

Tip: DANON ROMAN
