Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s Sandown meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all eight races on the Hillside card. Good luck, punters!
Rail Position: Out 12m, entire circuit
Track Condition: Soft 6
Interesting race. WAHINE is a beautifully bred filly who drew the fence at Donald last start and led all the way. Harder here but clearly has gears. FUNDRAISER needs to be watched. Is working very well and market will be your best guide as he’s on debut here. McCALLUM was runner up in similar race on debut behind a smart one. Team Hawkes trained and their horses always improve with runs under their belts.
DESERT DREAMER has just a mdn win to his credit but they backed him off the map when he won racing away at Echuca last start. This is harder but clearly has talent. YULONG STRIDE is up in class following his strong mdn win this trip when on speed all the way. Has improved every start and can again here. PRESENTLY has place prospects based on strong 2nd this grade last start.
Tip: YULONG STRIDE
Hard to imagine LUCKY WICK winning this level back in May when she was unplaced at BM 58 grade at Echuca. Has since found 3 x heavy tracks and has won easily each time. Showers expected here so track might be wet enough for her to shine again. GLOBAL SANCTION is just honest and tough and reliable and those are qualities you want among your numbers. PAINT THE TOWN RED chased home Lucky Wick this grade last start and meets her 2kg better. Tough race but can turn the tables.
Tip: LUCKY WICK
Lightly raced stayer INVERLOCH likes to get up on speed and generally is there at the end. Gets chance to do that here and is down in class. Gets weight relief too so is in this very well. CHELKAR showed what he might be able to do with game 3rd this grade last start and 2nd run this campaign. Big danger. ECKHART is a strong, consistent stayer who is in wonderful form and drawn to get a fine run.
Pretty even bunch. MACROBIUS hasn’t done much in 2 starts to date this time up. But has the runs on the board from campaigns previous. Have in your numbers. MERCY STREET is a bit hit and miss but does have finishing talent and has won twice this time up. Chance. SAUCY JACK is ready now. Is 4th up here and good placing last start plus great draw are big indicators for success.
Tip: MERCY STREET
Tough, tough field to dissect. WHENEVER WHEREVER has the form on the board winning twice out of town and being 2nd in BM 70 race last start beaten a nose. Bad draw here but has talent. Watch market as his stablemate GENERAL SHORT has form and could be the one they back instead. REMASTERED is up in grade but two starts to date have shown he can get along. Chance.
ALUF reads well. He’s unbeaten this track, has an amazing record this trip and loves the mud. Goes up 5kg for easy win on heavy last start this trip at BM 84 level. Looks the winner again. SPIRIT OF AQUADA is close to a win. Has placed at 4 of past 5 starts and is a dab hand at this level. Perfect draw too. STREET TOUGH won first up, then close 4th last start this grade. Third up means fitter and ready.
Tough race to end the day on. MR TIPLA goes well because he’s honest. Gets 3kg weight relief and a good gate and will be in this all the way. STYLISH ASSASSIN came with a rush from midfield under a huge weight to win easily in BM 64 grade last start at Donald. This is harder but has found form. LA VOLT rates a big show following a bunch of good runs this grade of late.
