Palmerbet Racing Team is saddling up for a VERY big day’s racing on the Gold Coast. Read on to see our horse racing tips and analysis for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas. Good luck, punters!

1. BOOMSARA (18) 151230×421

T: Chris Munce / J: Tim Clark (57kg)

It is probably fair to say this bloke will be ridden hard from the gates and try to lead. He has enough pace to do that and showed it and more last start in very similar field. He bounced that day from the gates like a jack-rabbit and over 1350m led them all clearly then dashed away and won as he liked by nearly 5 lengths. This isn’t any harder in terms of rivals but the draw is the major issue.

2. PAQUIRRI (2) 3x81x80984

T: Gary Moore / J: Jim Byrne (57kg)

Has ability but not enough for the races he has been forced to race in. Made ground late for 4th in Gosford Guineas last start but this is harder.

3. BONDI (21) 63172x0x23

T: Team Snowden / J: Kerrin McEvoy (56kg)

Very smart on his day and is quite exceptional at various stages of a race – just not at the end. Has been placed at Gr 1 level, was a strong and luckless 6th in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and placed in the Breeders’ Plate. Yet only win was a narrow victory in a lowly Newcastle maiden. Probably rushes home late to place here too.

4. THE FIRE TRAP (7) 1411×305

T: Matty Dunn / J: Hugh Bowman (56kg)

Smart horse on his day. Is 4th up here so now is peaking and last start when he flashed home after a checkered run to grab 5th this grade behind Boomsara, was an excellent trial for this. Looks suited this trip and should be in this finish.

5. STAR FALL (4) – scratched

T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Linda Meech (56kg)

Gives the impression he will become a very smart galloper. Is 3rd up here after 2 brilliant wins, latest in town at Caulfield where he sat on pace then simply out strode his rivals late. This is hardest test to date and only time in his life he failed badly was at this trip. So they and the bad gate are concerns but is smart.

6. Ljungberg (19) Scratched

T: – / J: –

Star galloper from Sydney who is scratched.

7. SMART ELISSIM (15) 1139533

T: Team Hayes & Dabernig / J: Michael Walker (56kg)

More than handy galloper who can run on but may just be a length or so behind the best here. Has placed at his past 2 starts in slightly weaker company.

8. OUTBACK BARBIE (9) 53x257x126

T: Tony Gollan / J: James McDonald (54.5kg)

This is an exciting filly, crowd favourite, and one of the main chances. Was flying 3rd in the MM 2YO Classic last year and has been consistent this grade since. Won at stakes level first up, then 2nd same grade before beaten by barrier last start when 6th to Boomsara after drawing off the track and getting a long way back early. Should be flying home at the end of this.

9. GRANNY RED SHOES (17) 1211x80x6L

T: Toby Edmonds / J: Brett Prebble (54.5kg)

Good filly on her day but after a pleasing 6th first up in this grade when 10th and wide for home to Zoustyle, she lost her rider last start in race won easily by Boomsara. No surprise to see her run home hard and into the money here at huge odds.

10. PERSUADER (3) 337×241710

T: Mick Price / J: Brenton Avdulla (54.5kg)

This is an interesting filly. Was soundly beaten, in fact, thrashed behind Boomsara last start but prior to that was a stakes winner this journey. Needs to lift on last start but might be able too.

11. ZIZZIS (14) 112×661865

T: Patrick Payne / J: Michael Cahill (54kg)

Nice filly on her day but this may test. Gets back and runs on and needs luck. Last win was at this trip and age but in slow time down in Victoria. Not keen.

12. PLUMARO (10) 2x87x54199

T: Kevin Kemp / J: Luke Tarrant (54kg)

Strong filly. Backmarker who likes to settle and can really rattle home hard late. Came from last this trip Doomben recently to beat a few of these but was plain when 9th to Boomsara in Gr 3 last start. Take on trust.

13. LIGHT UP THE ROOM (1) 13×1133

T: Tony Gollan / J: Brad Stewart (54kg)

Tough, gritty filly who knows what to do. Has won 3 of 6 starts to date and placed the other 3 including a hard-fought 3rd to Boomsara at Gr 3 level last start. Is very fit, honest and will give you a great run for your money.

14. MALAHIDE (13) 11×587

T: Michael Costa / J: Scott Galloway (54kg)

Is another with talent but this big field will be the issue. Got back a long way and did make ground but not enough to turn heads when 7th to Boomsara at Gr 3 level last start. Trip will suit and could sneak a place at big odds.

15. SUGAR SIZZLE (6) 4353112×01

T: Angela Plumb / J: Jag Guthman-Chester (54kg)

A handy filly who has won 3 of last 5 including this trip and track in August. Is trained here but may lack the finishing power at this level.

16. BAREFOOT (11) 5252×12131

T: Tony Sears / J: Mark Du Plessis (54kg)

Very honest filly who has won this track and trip and last start won here over 1800m by a big margin. Came from a mile back that day. It was grades weaker than this but she is improving every run. Might be the surprise packet.

17e. UNCONDITIONAL (16) 31129×373

T: Michael Nolan / J: Mark Du Plessis (56kg)

Improving restricted class galloper who made ground for 3rd this track in a weaker race last start. Next campaign.

18e. DOSS (5) scratched

T: Barry Lockwood / J:Dale Smith (56kg)

Good type in the making and this is a campaign too soon. Will develop into a fair horse who can scoot home late. Not likely to get a run but if he does he’ll finish mid-pack.

19e. SAY I CEE YOU (8) 36×721174

T: Liam Birchely / J: – (56kg)

Nice bush type of galloper who is aiming too high for this grade.

20e. MAGIC FOX (20) 616×143650

T: Kelly Schweida / J: – (56kg)

Has talent but last start was $81 when plodding 10th to Boomsara in Gr 3 beaten 8 lengths. Not keen.

21e. LANCASTER BOMBER (12) 4x15x419

T: Richard Litt / J: – (56kg)

Sydney galloper who has won twice but not likely to get a run here. And if he does, not likely to test many of these.

Tip: 1. BOOMSARA, 2. Outback Barbie, 3. Bondi, 4. Barefoot
