Form analyst, JUSTIN DEVINE, previews Wednesday’s meeting at Happy Valley, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races on the card. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Turf – Good

Rail Position: True, entire circuit

Happy Valley R1 – Class 5 1650m

20:45 (AEST)

This is not an overly strong race to start the night. MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE narrowly missed last time and with 52.5kgs and Karis Teetan aboard he can get the money tonight. VIRTUS STAR has recorded three placings from his last five runs and will once again feature in the finish, while BREAK RECORD will appreciate the 2.5kg claim and the good gate. He is one to include.

Happy Valley R2 – Class 4 1200m

21:15 (AEST)

SPLIT OF A SECOND has only had one poor run in his last five and that was when he was caught wide first up this prep. With a good record over the 1200m at Happy Valley, he has the best form heading into the race. FEARLESS FIRE put in an improved run for third last time and the booking of Zac Purton is likely to see him jump favourite. He is one to watch. Down in the weights SHINING ON will run well after a much-improved run last time.

Happy Valley R3 – Class 4 1200m

21:45 (AEST)

SPRINT FORWARD was narrowly defeated as favourite last time and ticks all the boxes tonight. Expect him to go one better tonight. XPONENTIAL was disappointing at his most recent run, but his form prior was good enough to be competitive in this and he will appreciate a senior rider. MALDIVES finished 6th on debut and with race experience under his belt he looks an improver.

Happy Valley R4 – Class 5 1200m

22:15 (AEST)

YEE CHEONG LUCKY has won two from his last three and despite going up in weight he is still the one to beat. MULTIMAX was a solid 4th last start and from gate 1 with a 2.5kg claim he should get all the favours in the run. FOX CHEUNGER has been thereabouts at his last few and drops in weight. He is a danger.

Happy Valley R5 – Class 4 1000m

22:45 (AEST)

WE THE SOUTH with two wins at the track and distance from his last four runs and a 3kg claim is the standout here. ARDENODE was beaten a length last time and is likely to feature in the finish, while NEXT MODEL is expected to improve under Hong Kong’s leading jockey Zac Purton.

Happy Valley R6 – Class 4 1650m

23:15 (AEST)

TOTAL POWER is building towards peak fitness and the market suggests that a forward showing tonight. DIONYSIS COLLIN broke through for a much deserved win last start after a run of placings and has drawn to get a gun run throughout. RIGHTEOUS MATE doesn’t win out of turn but is consistent and can fill the minor end of the prize at nice odds.

Happy Valley R7 – Class 3 1200m

23:45 (AEST)

The first-up VICTORY POWER is the best each-way bet on tonight’s card. I am prepared to forgive his last run when he had no luck from a wide gate, and prior to that, he has been thereabouts the placings. The $10 on offer looks over the odds. With a good draw and 3kg claim, BEAUTY SPARK looks well placed while MASTER ALBERT has won three from his last six and must be respected up in class.

Happy Valley R8 – Class 3 1000m

00:15 (AEST)

DIAMOND BRILLIANT has been a model of consistency of late and with Zac Purton booked, he looks the best bet on the card. The 5yo has placed at all five attempts at Happy Valley and tonight is his night. ETERNAL HARVEST was impressive winning last start and is likely to feature in the finish despite the weight rise. Ex-Australian galloper AEROZOOM makes his Hong Kong debut after a couple of wins in Victoria. He is huge odds but can fill a minor spot.

Happy Valley R9 – Class 3 1800m

00:50 (AEST)

A tough race to finish the night. LIGHTNING STEED steps up to 1800m for the first time after two wins over 1650m. He looks capable of handling the step up in class and distance. GOLDEN SPECTRUM looks the testing material but hasn’t won for 71 weeks which is a concern, while BRAVE KING gets his chance from the nice gate.
