Form analyst, JUSTIN DEVINE, previews Wednesday’s meeting at Happy Valley, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races on the card. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Turf – Good

Rail Position: True, entire circuit

Happy Valley R1 – Class 4 1200m

20:45 (AEST)

HAPPY GOOD GUY was disappointing at his last run, but his form prior to that was very good and he can bounce back. The booking of Joao Moreira for the first time is significant and will be the difference. GINTOKI put in a solid showing first up and with a good second-up record and a good gate he looks the danger. FARM BUMPER has been narrowly defeated at his last two, with a step up to 1200m tonight the only query. He can feature.

Happy Valley R2 – Class 4 1800m

21:15 (AEST)

Plenty of winning chances here. PERFECT TO PLAY is a last start winner over the 1800m and from gate 1 for Blake Shinn he looks well placed at an each-way quote. DIONYSIS COLLIN has placed at seven of his last ten runs without winning. Zac Purton rides him for the first time. Can Zac lift him to an overdue victory? SALTO OLIMPICO appreciated the step back to class 4 with an improved run for 3rd over 2200m last time. He does look under the odds as favourite here, dropping back to 1800m.

Happy Valley R3 – Class 4 1650m

21:45 (AEST)

BLOOMING SPIRIT has two wins and two placings from his last four runs, all over the 1650m at Happy Valley. Expect him to get a nice run in transit and be hard to hold out. FOCUS is another in great form at the track and distance and he is rock hard fit. LIGHTNING STEED has developed a one-on, one-off pattern in recent times and this week is an “off week”. He will have plenty of market support but is hard to have with any confidence.

Happy Valley R4 – Class 3 1000m

22:15 (AEST)

The barrier draw is all-important over the 1000m scamper at Happy Valley, and from gate 2 BE READY is in a great spot. He has managed back to back placings over the 1000m and can breakthrough for his first win in over a year. EXPLOSIVE WITNESS drops back to 1000m and will be hard to hold out. ALLIED AGILITY loves the 1000m at Happy Valley, with two wins from his last four and has a 3kg claim. The speed will be on throughout!

Happy Valley R5 – Class 4 1200m

22:45 (AEST)

ARES looks like he will progress through the grades quickly and returns after a ten-week freshen up. The 3yo has a win and a second from three starts and trailed well recently. He looks the winner. HERO TIME was a good winner first up, while LUCKY QUALITY has been improving at each run this prep and can continue to improve.

Happy Valley R6 – Class 4 1200m

23:15 (AEST)

SIMPLY FLUKE is chasing a hat trick of wins and looks the best horse in the race by far. If the Magic Man can slot in from gate 11 he looks too good here. JADE PHOENIX continues to frustrate punters but can capitalise if the favourite is caught wide, while DESTINE JEWELLERY has been thereabouts at his last four runs and can fill the minor end of the prize.

Happy Valley R7 – Class 3 1650m

23:45 (AEST)

WIth 52.5kg NORDIC WARRIOR looks hard to hold out. He ran a nice second last start closing strongly and Matthew Poon should be able to sit closer in the run from gate 4 tonight. He looks a great price. The consistent CHAIRMAN LO finished less than a length off the winner at his last start in a clustered finish and looks capable of featuring again. GREEN REIGN will have plenty of market support and run well. The 60.5kgs is his concern in an even race.

Happy Valley R8 – Class 3 1200m

00:15 (AEST)

GOLDEN DASH has been a model of consistency, having finished no further back than fourth in his 11 starts. From gate 1 tonight for Zac Purton (who has won on him twice before) he looks the one. He ticks the boxes. CALIFORNIA DEEPSHOT is a track and distance winner who will make him earn his win. The top two should battle it out. THE RUNNER at big odds is one to include up in class with no weight on his back.

Happy Valley R9 – Class 2 1200m

00:50 (AEST)

AMAZING STAR has only tasted defeat once in his last five runs, when he over-raced in the lead. He loves the 1200m at Happy Valley with four wins and has Zac Purton aboard. He wins. SHINING ACE was only a couple of lengths off the winner at his last start and can challenge the favourite. LARSON is racing in great form and can acquit himself well up in class.
