T: James Cummings / J: Kerrin McEvoy (58.5kg)
Superstar sprinter who looks across the line. I read somewhere that $2.90 is being bet about this horse. I’ll get on. He is a cut above these. He’s one of the very best sprinters in the land and this field just isn’t up to his high standard. He will get back and then unleash a powerful burst. Probably leads home a Godolphin 1-2-3!
T: Vaughn Sigley / J: Troy Turner (58.5kg)
Former star speedster. Is a Gr 1 winner and goes very well at this track. But his form hasn’t been all that thrilling past few campaigns. Has a new trainer too. Not keen.
T: Team McEvoy / J: Luke Currie (58.5kg)
Is outstanding on his day. But just had the one race in a year. Yes, it was a terrific 3rd showing pace and fight. But it wasn’t worthy enough to warrant big support here. Bad gate won’t help either. I think we can take him on.
T: Chris Gangemi / J: Jarrad Noske (58.5kg)
Top WA sprinter. Gets back and runs home hard normally. Is 3rd up here and is now fit enough to warrant a place show.
T: James Cummings / J: Damian Lane (58.5kg)
A terrific campaigner who should set the pace. He has no option but to get out and go from this terrible outside draw. Is very fit and very fast and will be in this for a long way if he goes hard early and finds the front.
T: Chris Gangemi / J: Brad Parnham (58.5kg)
Another strong local star. Both runs this time up have been below the standard needed for this, however. Saying that, is fitter now. Rough place show on best form.
T: James Cummings / J: Damian Oliver (58.5kg)
Brilliant sprinter from the Godolphin camp. Brilliant finisher on his day when he wants to, but can run some ordinary races too. Drawn to drop in about midfield and come hard late. Did that last start to win at stakes level. Has been beaten easily by Trekking the past few times they’ve raced each other.
T: Simon Miller / J: Chris Parnham (58.5kg)
Could be a spoiler here. He has tremendous pace early normally, although saying that was off the pace when plugging home solidly while fresh last start to grab 4th behind Flirtini over 1000m. Better suited this trip. But he may have to settle for 2nd in the run as Home Of The Brave is super quick too.
T: Tony Pike / J: Leith Innes (58.5kg)
Two starts back stormed home to win at Gr 2 level this journey in New Zealand. Is a powerful finisher who resumes here. But he has been a brute while fresh in the past. Respect.
T: Team Pearce / J: Ben Melham (58.5kg)
Top class WA horse who is probably the best of the locals. Is extremely consistent and will be on the pace and in the finish. You just have to have in your numbers because he is so honest at this level.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Steven Parnham (58.5kg)
Former European sprinter who has been Gr 1 placed in Australia. Couldn’t cross with big weight last start so gave up the ghost on the turn under big weight and was last. Isn’t honest but is talented. I’m not keen.
T: Adam Durrant / J: Willy Pike (58.5kg)
Is outstanding on his day. Can really rush home late. But that might be the problem here. He will be back and behind some real quality gallopers. Can he run them down? Finished just behind placegetters here at Gr 3 level over 1100m last start behind Flirtini.
T: Simon Miller / J: Paul Harvey (56.5kg)
Is an outstanding sprinting mare, and is one of the very best gallopers in WA. She has a trademark explosive finishing burst. Settles at the tail and flashes home. Has done that at past 2 starts both at Gr 3 level this track and won both brilliantly. Respect.
T: Team Harvey / J: Shaun McGruddy (56.5kg)
A terrific campaigner from Western Australia. Goes very hard early as she is a speed sprinter. May find it tough to find the lead in this as there is abundant pace. And that should find her out late.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Craig Williams (58.5kg)
Fascinating galloper on many levels. Is the baby of the field so comes in well at the weights scale. Is capable of winning on his day but his form this time up has been a little below his best. Watch market.
