T: Phillip Stokes /J: James McDonald (56.5kg)
What a good horse. He is a 1400m specialist and he has never been beaten in two goes at this track. Has always put in at gr 1 level and he is racing with gusto at present. Perfect draw to allows him to sit in about 4th spot. Will give your money a big run.
T: Team McEvoy / J: Barend Vorster (55kg)
Classy galloper who ran 6th in the Gr 1 Doomben 10,000 after not being able to dictate and getting buffeted in the home straight. He still kept on coming. Had previously won two on the bounce leading all the way including at Gr 1 level in the 1200m Goodwood. Suited to this and if he leads he will take catching. Big show.
T: Michael Moroney / J: Craig Williams (54.5kg)
Class galloper and is very strong late. Has run top races at this level, even won at Gr 1 level once and over this journey. Last start humped 60kg and came from 12th on the bend when 2nd to the smart Emerald Kingdom in Gr 3 BRC Sprint over 1350m. is 3rd up now and looms large.
T: Chris Waller / J: Tim Clark (54.5kg)
Last time he ran a decent race was back in February when beaten a lip at Gr 1 level this trip in the CF Orr Stakes in good time. But down the track next two runs. Can run on and is well treated at the weights on his best form.
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Ryan Maloney (54.5kg)
Useful on his day and likes to be near pace but this grade will find him out.
T: Tom Dabernig & Ben Hayes / J: Blaike McDougall (54kg)
Interesting galloper. Is enigmatic. Won over a mile at Caulfield leading all the way and then last start near pace for much of it when a fading 14th to Vega One. Looks tested.
T: Team Hawkes / J: Tommy Berry (54kg)
Strong galloper on his day before last start looking great running 2nd in the 1200m Gr 1 Doomben 10,000 behind Eduardo. Carried 58.5kg that day so drops in weight, rises in trip which suits him a great deal and is 2nd up so is fitter. Has terrific stats 2nd up also. Big show.
T: Steve Tregea/ J: James Orman (54kg)
This might be the big priced dark horse. Finished like a rocket when resuming and beating subsequent winner Vega One in the WFA Gr 2 race here on a soft track. Didn’t produce the same zeal 2nd up but loves this track and distance normally and does have power late. Good place show.
T: Team Snowden / J: Kerrin McEvoy (54kg)
Is interesting. Very talented especially at this level but has been in and then sc watched a few times over recent months and just might be feeling his legs. Has ability this grade and trip if right though. Watch betting.
T: Jenny Graham / J: Mark du Plessis (54kg)
Tough, solid type who will make ground late in this. Has been slowly racing his way back to top form and his 5th to Vega One last start in the Gr 1 1300m KS Cup was a terrific run. Drops 5kg for this. Definite place hope.
T: Tony Gollan /J: Rachel King (53kg)
Everyone wants to be on him after that stunning last to first ride by Jamie Kah to land him the winner of the Gr 1 KS Cup over 1300m last start. His last 150m was outstanding with 59kg. Has 4 times won at this trip and two of those at this track. Is in peak condition and has everything going for him.
T: Team Edmonds / J: Glen Boss (53kg)
Will nearly start fav for this because he is smart and is hugely popular. Has won 17 races and last start when resuming he rocketed down the outside to grab 3rd in the Gr 1 Doomben 10,000 behind Eduardo. That will prove a very strong reference race for this. Since won a 900m jump out and looks so well placed with this weight.
T: Team Snowden / J: Ben Thompson (52kg)
Interesting galloper who seems honest but doesn’t ever look likely at this level. But, last start in the Gr 1 KS Cup he ran a terrific race to grab 3rd to Vega One. Looked the winner with 100m to go. Is fitter now and down in the weights. May surprise.
T: Robert Heathcote / J: Robbie Fradd (52kg)
Nice horse and is in career best form. Has won 10 race es, one ofd them last start when leading all the way to win the 1350m BRC Sprint over 1350 beating Tofane. There will be a couple going forward here and he hasn’t drawn great. But is a definite lightweight hope.
T: — (57kg)
T: Chris Waller / J: Ron Stewart (51kg)
Interesting mare. She has a lot of power late but needs to get out to the centre of the track. Last start rushed home to narrowly lose the Gr 1 Robert Sangster over 1200m in good time. Loves this trip and has never had this light a weight on her back. And, Ron Stewart rides. The last time he rode a lightweight for trainer Chris Waller, he won at Gr 1 level.
T: Graeme Green / J: Taylor Marshall (51kg)
Strong galloper on his day when ridden on pace but hasn’t shown much dash out of the gates this prep and isn’t racing well enough.
T: Desleigh Forster/ J: Jim Byrne (49.5 will carry 50.5kg)
Young horse with loads of talent and especially early speed. Carried 57kg last start and led all the way to beat the boom horse Ayrton this trip and drops 7kg for this. Is going to go hard and probably leads with this weight but will be in a world of pain the last 100m. Is tough though.
T: Tony Gollan / J: Joe McNeil (51 will carry 52kg)
Has a big following and has a strong finish on her day but at this level she struggles to always show it. Has never raced well at this track and was 7th to Vega One last start. Place at the very best.
T: Ciaron Maher/David Eustace / J: Stephanie Thornton (50kg)
This bloke is a legit lightweight chance. He really rushes home late and was beaten a long head by Apache Chase this trip last start and meets him .5kg better. Strike against him is that he has only ever won a single race from 15 starts. But he does run on hard.
T: Greg Eurells /J: – (51kg)
Looks tested at this level. No.
