T: Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman / J: Hugh Bowman (56.5kg)
What a potential superstar. Too good for everything in his age group in New Zealand, so he came here with an unbeaten 4 from 4 record including a Gr 1 win. And, just went bang when Hughie Bowman asked him to go winning the Gr 2 Hobartville against many of these easily. Can’t see him getting beaten as he might be very brilliant.
T: Team Snowden / J: Tom Marquand (56.5kg)
Tough customer. Dual Gr 1 winner, both at this track, and he is also trained here. Does his best here, obviously. Nice run when resuming and getting home into 6th in the Gr 2 Hobartville behind Aegon, beaten just 4 lengths. If he’s back to his best here, 2nd up, he is a major player.
T: Team Hawkes / J: James McDonald (56.5kg)
Superstar who is warming up beautifully for this. Comes into it 3rd up and last start was eye-catching 2nd to Aegon in the Hobartville. Has been set for this and can sprout wings when he is right. Drawn perfectly. Will be flashing home.
T: Team Freedman / J: Jean Van Overmeire (56.5kg)
What a super steady, consistent horse. Just does not know how to run a bad race and he is right in this class. Comes into this 3rd up and was very honest when battling away in 3rd behind Aegon in the Hobartville. Drawn poorly but probably goes back looking for cover and is sure to make a charge late.
T: Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou / J: Tim Clark (56.5kg)
Is a superstar at this track where he has blitzed all rivals from five starts. Will likely look for the lead and just keeps extending at this course. Has no option but to charge across here and this will ensure two things – a strong pace and a great battle down the running. Respect.
T: John O’Shea / J: Brenton Avdulla (56.5kg)
Is a star in the making. Resumed in that tough Hobartville and ran on gamely from the back to place 5th behind Aegon. He was beaten 3 lengths at the level weights which applies here. Has won over a mile and will strip fitter. Definite place show.
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Tommy Berry (56.5kg)
Good galloper. Really good future Gr 1 horse. Might be a run or so too soon here but he has a boom on him and he can motor late. Was doing best work at the end when 3rd to Tagaloa in fast time for 1400m in Melbourne last start. Keep safe.
T: Chris Waller / J: Nash Rawiller (56.5kg)
Is a much better horse than people think. Only plugged home in the Gr 2 Hobartville over 1400m behind Aegon last start when 7th but was making ground. Is better placed this journey and is going to make his presence felt. Has to be a major threat.
T: Chris Waller / J: Kerrin McEvoy (56.5kg)
Nice horse on his day and can run on well. Is 2nd upon here and was well beaten when resuming. Is Gr 1 placed though.
T: Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott / J: Rachel King (56.5kg)
Is smart and is improving with every run. There are a few who like to lead but he might go and press them early too. Is very fit and is on home track.
T: Brent Stanley / J: Glen Boss (56.5kg)
Definitely is a horse to follow although this may be too hard. Just last week was running on when 8th in the Gr 1 Australian Guineas. Then made the big trip up here. Hard test.
T: Chris Waller / J: Jason Collett (56.5kg)
Nice galloper who seems to be improving every start. Won his maiden in great style two runs back then solid 4th in a BM 78. Has been stakes placed as a 2YO. And over this trip. Not the roughest.
T: Mark Newnham / J: Josh Parr (54.5kg)
Good, honest filly who has won four from five starts but all in much weaker grade. May find this beyond her at this stage but is a progressive filly.
