Beware the fallen idol. Won this race comfortably last year and lowered the boom on Verry Elleegant in doing so. Was in for the fight but came up short last start in the Gr 1 Ranvet when the great mare took revenge. They will battle hard again but he should strip fitter. Looks exceptionally hard to beat.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Glen Boss (59kg)
Great galloper. Looked back to his very best when he dominated the Gr 1 Tancred field. Has to come back 400m here but he is the reigning Gr 1 Cox Plate champion having won that race at this trip with ridiculous ease. Can and will beat the two stars if he is actually back to his very best. Either way, must be in your numbers.
T: Kris Lees / J: Hugh Bowman (59kg)
Class galloper, in fact super galloper who carried top weight and ran brilliantly to grab a close up 4th in the recent Gr 1 Star Doncaster Mile. Previous to that had beaten Russian Camelot in the $5m All-Star Mile. Is better suited to this trip also and is extremely honest. Bound to make presence felt.
T: Kerry Parker / J: Brenton Avdulla (59kg)
Super improved this campaign with two wins from past three starts, latest at Gr 1 level in the 1500m George Ryder. Has always run well at this trip but this is the strongest race he has ever been in. Looks safely held.

T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas / J: Kerrin McEvoy (59kg)
Interesting galloper. Will be on speed most of the way and looks back to his best after a terrific 3rd in the Doncaster last week. This is immeasurably harder and does look tested. Loves this trip.
T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (59kg)
Champion mare who was 2nd in this race last year and is also a last start winner of the Gr 1 Ranvet out muscling Addeybb over this journey. Meets him at same weight difference for that win. She is at her best this trip and will test these field again. Massive chance.
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Tommy Berry (55.5kg)
Is ready to run a big race as he looks like this trip might be his best. Was disappointing last start though in the Doncaster with no weight on his back. Ran 10th after being last on the bend but his last 200m was very fast. Still, he will give these a big head start and that will prove his downfall.
