T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (56.5kg)
Is probably the best 3YO in Australasia. He gets back but unleashes such power. Has just been partly purchased for stud duties at Arrowfield and as this is one of the land’s premier stallion making races, it’s imperative he wins. And he should. Just looks better than these. Should take any amount of holding out here from this glorious draw.
T: Darren Weir / J: Ben Allen (56.5kg)
Is an on pace star of the future and showed much of what is to come with a bold all-the-way win in the Group 3 Guineas Preview over 1400m. Harder here and extra trip will test him, but is gifted. Big danger from this great gate.
T: Paul Perry / J: Dean Yendall (56.5kg)
In and out type capable of rattling home and taking a hand in this finish. Will be big odds but has wheels late so take on trust. Place chance.
T: Darren Weir / J: Brad Rawiller (56.5kg)
Brilliant young galloper on his day and should be peaking for this. This is his 6th start in his career and last start was career highlight sitting just behind the pace and finishing like a star in the making winning Group 2 Stutt Stakes over this trip. That’s always a good lead up to this. Big player.
T: Team Hawkes / J: Dwayne Dunn (58.5kg)
Nice colt who is close to a win. Has had a few tries this time up and is getting better with racing. He made a lot of ground in unsuitable Stutt Stakes over this trip. Little home straight didn’t suit. Can rattle home and place here.
T: Kris Lees / J: Craig Williams (56.5kg)
This is the interesting galloper. Has strong form but it has all been achieved in non stakes races and under big weights. Has a bad draw here so probably covers a bit of extra ground. But is game, honest and will fight all the way down straight.
T: Team Hayes & Dabernig / J: Regan Bayliss (56.5kg)
Is just the type to be in this all the way. Drawn perfectly on the rails and did fight out a torrid Group 2 Stutt Stakes with Leonardo Da Hinci last start this distance, going down final few strides. Fitter now and looms as a big price threat here.
T: Team Hayes & Dabernig / J: Luke Nolen (56.5kg)
Smart horse on his day. Has a 1600m stakes win against his own age previously on his resume, and 2 runs this time up have been useful. Good 3rd then slightly average 8th to Native Soldier. A win would surprise but can get home hard so rates a show to place.
T: Colin Little / J: Beau Mertens (56.5kg)
Is so badly out of form that even with a head start a win would surprise.
T: Brent Stanley / J: Noel Callow (56.5kg)
Is a pretty tough galloper and has a great draw but may not be able to use it effectively as he’s a get back run on type. Did that in the Preview over 1400m and ended up a good closing 5th to Native Soldier. Needs luck but not the roughest.
T: Mick Price / J: Michael Walker (56.5kg)
Is a consistent galloper who is suited to this providing he gets the trip. Is bred to, mind you. And he’s placed past 3 runs all at stakes level. Just that query on him running this out strongly at Group 1 level and will probably be a little wide from this draw driving forward.

T: Matty Bown / J: Brian Higgins (56.5kg)
It would be a big surprise to see him win this, but not a surprise to see him develop down the track into a very smart stakes horse. Sat wide yet still kept coming when 4th in Group 3 Prelude over 1400m last start. Drawn very well but may get cluttered up.
T: Archie Alexander / J: Jordan Childs (56.5kg)
Only had 4 starts and should develop into a really good race horse because he has wheels. Can finish off but this Group 1 grade at this stage of his career will test. Beaten at BM 64 level last start.
T: Tony McEvoy / J: Luke Currie (54.5kg)
Brilliant Group 1 winning filly. Form from that Flight Stakes has been outstanding since also. Got back and rattled home to win last bound. Had been twice Group 1 placed before that and looks very much a threat here too.
