T: Greg Hickman / J: Tommy Berry (59kg)
Superstar sprinter, one of probably the top 3 in the land. Resumes here but has been set a task. Was beaten at only start this trip. Has won just 1 of 4 races on heavy tracks. Has the biggest weight. Has won 1 of 3 starts this track and first up has won 2 of 5 starts. But, did win trial nicely the other day and will be making ground late.
T: Kris Lees / J: Brenton Avdulla (55kg)
Deserves to be highly fancied. This is a brilliant race mare and she has a great first up record too. Resumes here. Drawn to get a lovely run if they decide to push forward. Is a Gr 1 winner with more weight and did trial nicely recently.
T: James Cummings / J: James Mcdonald (55kg)
Solid campaigner this grade and barrier trial win recently was encoiuragi9ng. But….hasn’t raced for over a year. Hasn’t ever won at this journey and was a failure in Gr 1 races when last in work. Saying that he has been gelded since he last raced so that might, surprisingly, turn him on.
T: James Cummings / J: Damien Oliver (54kg)
She is so good and so honest. After a brilliant win in easier grade first up, she stepped up to Gr 1 company last start and stormed home to grab 2nd. Has drawn perfectly for this and is 3rd up. Must be considered.

T: James Cummings / J: Kerrin McEvoy (53.5kg)
Has the beautiful draw for the way he races. He lets them roll then comes home hard. Can run outstanding last 600m sectionals and goes very, very well 2nd. resumed with an eye-catching 5th to Nature Strip last start running very quick home straight fractions. Loves this journey and is weighted to win.
T: Mick Bell / J: Jade Darose (53.5kg)
What a terrific old galloper. He is very fit, fast and drawn to sit about a length off the pace. Is in career-best form right now despite being 9YO. Great 3rd this grade last start and his mud form is exquisite. No surprise to see him with this weight be right in this finish.
T: Shawn Dwyer / J: Billy Egan (51.5kg)
This is the dark horse. Ran a super race with 56.5kg to be beaten only 3 lengths by Nature Strip last start in Gr 2 over 1000m. Is 3rd up now and has never been beaten on a heavy track. Also boasts a great record this trip. Rails draw is handy too. Looks exceptionally hard to beat.
T: Joe Pride / J: Glen Boss (51kg)
Would have been a major contender here had she drawn a gate. May still be because she is an emerging star sprinter. Won brilliantly first up in slightly weaker grade showing blinding pace. Has won 4 of her 7 starts to date. Draw is so annoying.
T: Team Snowden / J: Tim Clark (54.5kg)
This is such a good mare when right and appears to be firing right now. Chased hard running very fast last 600m when beaten a length by Fasika at 2nd run from a spell. Drops 7.5kg from that run and meets Fasika 2kg better for 1 length loss. And, has drawn massively better than her here. Big show.
T: Jean Dubois / J: Jean Van Overmeire (54.5kg)
This might be the smart play roughie of the field. Has no weight on her back and has drawn perfectly. Hits the line particularly hard too. Won 3 of 4 just before spell. Resumes here and has a lot going for her.
T: Grahame Begg / J: Jordy Childs (54.5kg)
Interesting runner. She has performed well but at levels below this. Saying that she can finish a race off and has never been beaten at this track. Has won 5 races at this trip, has never been beaten on a heavy track and has a dazzling first-up record. But…all in weaker races.
T: Team Hayes & Dabernig / J: Craig Williams (54.5kg)
Lightly raced but immensely talented. Was a rising star when last in work. Two starts this time up, however, have been average efforts for this. Not keen.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Michael Dee (54.5kg)
Nice mare on her day against weaker opposition. Drawn too wide. Not keen.
T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (54.5kg)
Is a 3YO filly up against the A-listers here. Won at Gr 2 level before drawing wide and being off the track throughout when fading to near last in the Gr 1 Oakleigh Plate last start. Doesn’t ever race well at this track either and has drawn deep again. Not really.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace/ J: Damien Oliver (54.5kg)
Interesting runner. This day last year he ran 8th in the mud in the Gr 1 Golden Slipper but has since won at Gr 2 level carrying weight and running very fast time. Awkward draw but is 3rd up and has no weight on his back. Will be a factor.
T: James Cummings/ J: Tommy Berry (54.5kg)
Has finishing power and has no weight on his back. But he ran a shocker in an easier race last start finishing last. Would be a miracle to improve that much in this much stronger race and win.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Mark Zahra (56.5kg)
Lightly raced but is super fast and carries no weight here. Doubt he gets a run but would be on pace making sure a fast tempo is run if he does start. Probably not.
