Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at Saturday’s Flemington meeting with horse racing tips and analysis for all nine races on the card. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Rail Position: Out 5m, entire circuit
Solid staying contest to start the day. SIN TO WIN is racing with gusto. He has a big weight here but he has been finding the line strongly of late. Rattled home for solid 3rd in Warrnambool Cup last start over 2350m. GOOD IDEA’s name suggests it’s a good idea to have him in your numbers. Recent form has been very honest at this level. YONKERS is tough and very fit and although up in class, has a good bit of fight in him. Won in Sydney last start finishing hard late over 1800m.
Tip: SIN TO WIN
A competitive juvenile. This last start winner KHOEKHOE might be pretty smart. Ran through the line like he’d have no trouble this trip. Going for 3 in a row here. INDICTMENT is back from a trip to Adelaide in a tougher grade where he was a strong 3rd. Fitter now and will be hard to beat. Wears blinkers for the first time. Will run on. IMMORTAL LOVE won a Euchuca mdn on debut. Fitter now but this is harder.
The 3kg claim for last start winner BARBIE’S FOX is a big help. She looked back even better with her solid first-up win over 1200m. Must be fitter. SHE SHAO FLY was a good 3rd in that same race when resuming also. Strips fitter for this as well. Adelaide winner WILD VIXEN is 3rd up here after that strong SA win which gave her 3 wins from past 5 starts. Is very honest. Suited at this level.
Tip: BARBIE’S FOX
The 1.5kg off for MOOR WANTED might be rather helpful here. He scored nicely first up then beaten out of a place this grade a Werribee. second up syndrome, I think. Chance to atone. RUBAN BLEU looked good running 4th in a better class race when resuming last start. And he should get all the breaks here from this grade. Did win a few when last in work. ALFA ORO has drawn off the track but is smart and is powering his way through the grades. Won 3 from 5 thus far and 2nd in the other two.
Tip: ALFA ORO
Competitive field. GAME KEEPER joined in at the 200m and just raced away to easily win the Listed Adelaide Guineas over 1800m last start. Has 62kg to contend with here but that was 3rd win on the bounce. Have in your numbers. KUSARI has a lot of staying talent. Is lightly raced but has already won 3 races and gets a 3kg weight relief here. Sydney colt MIYAKE might have a future. He looks like a true stayer emerging and his win last start at BM 70 level in Sydney suggested this trip suits.
This looks a lovely race for the top two, HOME OF THE BRAVE and MALIBU STYLE. Both are Gr 1 sprinters, and yes they have big weights here but class goes a long way in sprinting. If either finish in the top 2 they surge past $1million in prizemoney. HAUNTED the younger stablemate of Home Of The Brave, can finish hard and looks a contender as well.
Tip: HOME OF THE BRAVE
Good race. Sydney stayers MASAFF and NOBU haven’t been served well at the gates but both should go back. They are quality on their day and can make long runs together. Maybe even fight it out. AUSSIE NUGGET is a model of consistency at this level and has drawn to receive a pretty handy run. Should be in the fray late.
Tip: AUSSIE NUGGET
A competitive race and a good betting one. Can we expect history here with the enigmatic SO SI BON? He has never won 3 on the bounce in his 50-start career but is staring that milestone in the face here. Drawn to receive a terrific run, is very fit and has proven he can beat this level of field. DJANGO FREEMAN is the import from Germany that has garnered so much publicity of late. He is on debut in Aussie but is Gr 1 placed in his homeland. Watch betting. SHOT OF IRISH is also gunning for 3 in a row and although up in grade has been winning impressively.
Tip: SO SI BON
A competitive race and another good betting one. HILO for Godolphin is talented. Big weight here but he’s in form and can make ground late. Big show. Sth Aussie ROCCABASCERANA is fast and tough on his day and this is his level. Will be in it for a long time. Blinkers come off him for the first time. THE ASTROLOGIST is smart and was an impressive 3rd at this level when resuming. Sure to be fitter.
