Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s Flemington meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Good 4
Rail Position: True entire circuit
Team Williams produces G3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes runner-up PONDUS back in Australia. Went back to Ireland last prep and placed in two of three starts. Expect him to be primed for this and if any support would follow.
COOLTH powered home to just miss two starts back then forget last start when had no luck in running and should have finished closer. Back to Flemington the key.
TOORADIN raced on speed and proved too strong holding them all off for gutsy win at Caulfield. Expect he will go forward again and prove tough to run down.
ONE MORE TRY chased home solidly final stages when placed here last start. She only needs to hold that form to be in the mix again.
Hard not to be impressed with the way ARTORIUS finished his race off at Caulfield first-up. Sure to be better from that outing and the bigger track at Flemington should suit.
MR MOZART comes into this ready third-up from spell. Not beaten all that far at Caulfield first-up then was luckless when always wide last start. Drawn to get much better run in transit.
TUTUKAKA resumes from spell. Kiwi trained gelding who won in Listed company at Eagle Farm before break and if he finds that form here would be right in the mix. Barrier a concern.
HILAL started favourite at The Valley first-up and thought he run was solid enough. He will be better from that outing and can figure in this.
INGRATIATING created a big impression winning the Vain Stakes at Caulfield first-up. He looks set for a big Spring and can continue on his winning ways in this.
JIGSAW just went bit keenly at The Valley last start and found one better final stages. If he can settle a touch better here he will take some catching.
SHAQUERO resumes from spell. He took on all the class races in his 2yo season up in Sydney including a G3 Pago Pago win. Not sure inside will be the place to be down the straight but must respect.
FINANCE TYCOON resumes. He was Gold Coast winner when first-up last time in work and a model of consistency throughout campaign. Would not leave him out of exotics.
DOSH is unbeaten in two starts. She has abundance of speed and will lead these for a long way. Has the advantage of winning down the Flemington straight and she can win again.
Have an opinion of FROST FLOWERS and not sure she was all that suited around the tight Valley circuit first-up. She will strip fitter for this and another who has won down the straight.
CRYSTAL BOUND was a dominant winner first-up at The Valley on debut bolting in by 6 lengths then she just missed at Randwick last start. She is big watch fresh.
ASHEMA resumes from spell. She was consistent last time in work and two recent trials will have her ready for this.
AYRTON powered to the line and won impressively at Caulfield first-up from spell. He is an exciting gelding and should go on and win again.
REGARDSMAREE comes into this third-up from spell. Loomed to win at Caulfield last start but just overran last 100m. Primed for this and looks nice each way odds.
KING MAGNUS won a couple in a row at Caulfield then followed up with two solid placings behind some smart ones. He will be right in the mix.
BUTTER CHICKEN is a promising mare resuming from a spell. She beat Harbour Views in a recent Cranbourne trial and looks nice odds fresh.
Liked the way INSTANT CELEBRITY hit the line at Caulfield first-up from spell when grabbed minor spot. She is unbeaten second-up from spell and can get away with this.
TURAATH has been racing in super form winning last three starts in style. Bolted in this track two starts back then led all the way at Caulfield. She can win again.
The Queen of Tasmanian racing MYSTIC JOURNEY resumes from a spell. She has been trialing well back home and she must be included in chances first-up.
STILL A STAR is another Tasmanian mare who crosses Bass Strait to the mainland first-up. She is smart and a major player.
Tip: INSTANT CELEBRITY
Flemington R7 – Bobbie Lewis Quality (Group 2) 1200m
I will be having something each way on ROHERYN at juicy odds. He is unbeaten in five first-up tries and although this a tough task fresh he must be included on that stat alone.
EXPRESS PASS did it tough when always wide at The Valley last start but he was still good enough to sprint away from the corner and won with something in hand. He can win again.
THE ASTROLOGIST has won three of his last four starts all down the Flemington straight. He loves this track/distance and will be right in the mix.
AWAY GAME was impressive winning at Eagle Farm two starts back then ran on strongly when just missed at Caulfield last start. She can measure up to these.
Stradbroke Handicap winner TOFANE was brave to the line in the G1 Memsie Stakes last start when ran into minor placing. Fitter and although a query at the mile happy to stick with her.
MO’UNGA charged late and got up to win the Winx Stakes first-up from spell. She will be better from the outing and can make it two in a row.
AEGON was an eye catcher first-up in the Memsie Stakes. Out to the mile looks ideal and he is unbeaten in two first-up tries.
IMAGING should have finished closer first-up in the Winx Stakes when held-up final stages. He will be better from the run and out to the 1600m will be ideal.
SKYMAN arrived a stride too late at The Valley first-up from spell. Better from the run and from inside gate he should get all the favours and have last crack at these.
ZIEGFELD looks close to a win this time in. Beaten less than a length at Caulfield last start and if he holds that form would be right in the mix.
KING OF LEOGRANCE always produces a run fresh from spell and expect that Team Williams will have him ready first-up and cannot leave out of winning chances.
LONG ARM resumes from a spell. He has won three of four first-up tries including last time in work when got up last stride at Caulfield. He can surprise these.
