Form student, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Saturday’s Doomben meeting with horse racing tips & analysis for all nine races on the card, including the Group 1 Doomben Cup. Good luck, punters!

Rail Position: Out 2m, entire circuit
Track Condition: Good 4

BENFICA PRINCESS is a lot better than her past two abject failures. Did win the previous two starts. Gets back and this is an easier race than last start. Will run on. MYMMING is a handy mare and suited this grade. Also gets back and runs on. Forget last start’s 8th as she got caught up between runners and didn’t get a decent crack at them. Suited here. SACRED DAY resumes here and has a good first up record. Respect that.

Each time he runs he wins and each time they raise the bar but THE CANDY MAN salutes it seems. He’s won past 5 on the bounce. Has massive weight and drawn the car park here. This will test. TUNERO is 3rd up here and by contrast, has a great gate. Jay Mac to ride and looks very well placed. DUCHESS OF LENNOX might be one of those untapped stars in the making. She gets back but runs on hard and is on target for a start in the Gr 1 Oaks. If she can sit midfield or so she can win this.

Bad draw for the brilliant and unbeaten GEM OF SCOTLAND here. If she can overcome it, she will go close. Won like a superstar the last time she raced this track and grade. MISS CAVALLO might be pretty handy too. She tends to settle a bit off the pace but her past three runs have been first class for this. Won impressively here last start this trip. EURO BELLE is a maiden and has drawn the car park. But she has finishing power and this trip will suit. Should get back near last on the bend but will charge late.

ZOUSTYLE resumes here and has unbeaten first up record. In fact, is unbeaten in 5 career starts and is the boom horse. Likes to jump and run and should lead these for a very long time. PLAGUE STONE won brilliantly when resuming from a lengthy spell here this grade at stakes level last start. Extra tip suits too and looks the one to beat. Sydneysider RONSTAR is in great touch. Won well last start and is also a front runner.

QUILISTA  is the one to beat. Drawn perfectly and has improved her form every run this campaign with new trainer. Just beaten in better race last start. Perfectly placed. SEXY EYES was doing best work at the end when fast closing 4th in same race Quilista was 2nd in. EPIDEMIC likewise was going hard at the line for 5th in that race. They look the trifecta.

MR MARBELLOUZ looks well in. Has lightning speed when he wants to and this trip and gate say he will drive to the front. Has broken 1.09 this track for 1200m when leading. Back in form with win here last start in a similar race. Big show. KEEN ARRAY, racing for new trainer last start for first time, made ground for 4th to Mr Marbellouz last start when resuming. Will strip fitter and meets him better at the weights. WHYPEEO hasn’t shown much lately but is very fast on his day.

Very even field. Probably be 6 lengths top to tail when they finish. I like TYZONE – providing he finds cover. Bad draw here but he can finish off and not far away in a similar race in Sydney last start. ADDICTIVE NATURE has drawn a bad gate too but is racing in great form in Victoria. Bound to make presence felt. PASSAGE OF TIME can rattle home and won a restricted race in commanding fashion in Sydney last start. Has claims but badly drawn too.

Can Chris Waller trifecta this race? I’ll tell a man he can. LIFE LESS ORDINARY and MISTER SEA WOLF are racing in great nick, probably career best form and are suited here. But his mare SHILLELAGH is a multiple Gr 1 winner already and if she is on song, she will love this race. It’s not as strong as quite a few of the races she has run well in before. Drawn to be on the fence in about 8th spot most of the way and then charge late. YOUNGSTAR is all class too. She will get back and run home hard at 3rd run from a spell. Perhaps the great man gets the first 4 home.

Tip: 1. SHILLELAGH, 2. Youngstar, 3. Mister Sea Wolf, 4. Life Less Ordinary

SCARLET DREAM is an outstanding filly. She was runner up in the recent ATC Oaks at Gr 1 level and nearly should have won the race. Goes hard here at her best she wins for fun. ALIFEROUS was 4th in the same race the Gr 1 ATC Oaks. Has won this trip at Group level and she too rates highly on past form. WINNING WAYS is a Queenslander in great touch winning past three starts including at stakes level last start in the mud over 1800m. Chance.
