Ric Chapman Team previews Saturday’s Doomben meeting with horse racing tips & analysis for all eight races on the card. Good luck, punters!

Rail Position: True, entire circuit
Track Condition: Good 4

AWAKE THE STARS resumes in this and has a great first up record. And also has tremendous talent in this grade. Has trialled impressively twice this time up and the booking of Blake Shinn is a major pointer. Both MISHANI ELECTRA and SUPER TONIC have ability at this level and will drive forward. Both are resuming here so should be sprightly off their good gates.

ECHO EFFECT could cause a boilover here at big odds. He is fast and with his weight allowance should drive forward and lead these for a long time. Is 3rd up now. NATCH has talent as he showed in abundance when resuming last start winning in style. Perfectly drawn here to repeat the dose. His stablemate EF TROOP is better than all these on his day. And goes very well fresh. Resumes here!

Bad draw for SNITCH but last start showed he was nearing the very impressive form he showed last campaign when winning 5 on the bounce. Gets welcome 2kg allowance and should make a race of it. GREYWOLF shrugged off a series of poor runs with a dominant win in easier grade last start. Sure to show up. THE AVENGER is perhaps the most topical tip of the day and rates highly on ability too. Luckless 3rd last start and set to run boldly.

At the set weights scale, MISHANI HUSTLER who is a bonafide serial winner, is perfectly placed. The worry is the bad gate. If he slots in, he wins. RACECOURSE ROAD is aiming for 3rd win on the bounce himself and has the good draw. Is racing very well in slightly easier grade. Godolphin’s MULTAJA is smart for this level and hits the wire hard. Looks well placed here too.

Sydney galloper DEALMAKER is very talented by is also a gunna horse. Hits line hard and runs eye-catching races but never seems to win. Gets chance here as this field isn’t overly strong. Fellow Sydneysider PURPLE SECTOR is talented too at this level and also runs home hard. Can place. LIGHT UP THE ROOM is a smart filly on track for an Oaks start. Is already stakes placed so has the talent. Should run boldly too.

The last time DUBIOUS met his main rival CZARSON he beat him home easily. And he’s drawn better here. Looks to settle off the speed and if at his best, he is dynamite late. Awkward draw will stand against Czarson but he’s pretty tough so may overcome it. GARIBALDI showed last campaign he had a lot of talent but his 5th when resuming this grade last start was only average. Should improve hopefully and be in this.

TOM MELBOURNE is, well Tom Melbourne. He is capable of running outstanding time and smashing these and he has been backed overnight. But he also can turn it up if things go wrong. Top jock and drawn perfectly here. ARCHEDEMUS is your typical, grinding, tough as galloper who has won 6 of past 7 starts. This is hardest test to date but he has the grit to tough it out. GEM SONG is down in weight and back in form. Too potent things. Will be just off pace and come with a big rush. Huge chance.  Sure to go close.

At what point does the universe shine on OSBORNE BULLS? We all know he is a tremendous, almost imperious racehorse with 9 wins and 8 placings from his 18 starts to date. But really – runner-up at his past 4 starts, all at Gr 1 level. Will need to obtain clean air in the straight but is the best horse in this field. NATURE STRIP has a Gr 1 win under his belt and is the obvious leader here. Is in career best form now that he’s with Chris Waller and this track suits his style of racing. Big show if unchallenged in front. As is CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES. This actually looks a perfect race for her. The pace will be electric from the get-go which will allow her to find a great spot one off back midfield. She has finished within a length of Osborne Bulls at her past 3 runs so clearly is in form. And he might get caught up behind tiring horses. Which she won’t. Treat her with respect.

Tip: 1. CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES, 2. Osborne Bulls, Tactical Advantage, 4. Nature Strip

Every chance we will see a Chris Waller trifecta here but in which order? His runners: LIBRAN; EXOTERIC; HARIPOUR; TUMULTUOUS; LE JUGE and TANGLED all have claims. Haripour probably appeals slightly more than the rest although saying that he was average this grade last start when plodding 8th. Is much better than that as his previous start when winning suggests. Le Juge is fascinating. He just keeps getting better and better and is roaring through his grades winning 6 of past 8 starts. Gets home hard and may well be better even than this stakes grade. Tangled is a hit and miss galloper who probably crosses over from out wide and takes up a decent spot on the pace. Can win if his mind is on the job.
