Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s Flemington meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Good 4

Rail Position: True entire circuit

PERSAN keeps on opening at backable odds and either wins or runs into a placing. He makes his own luck sitting in first couple and happy to go with him again.

SCHABAU raced a little keenly first-up from spell but stayed on well enough and not beaten all that far. Second-up from spell and sure to be right in finish.

DOUBLE YOU TEE comes into this off three solid placings. Sure Billy Egan will ride him patiently out the back but if leaders go out too hard he will be the one hitting the line hard.

LORD BELVEDERE resumes from spell. Has been placed in three of his five first-up tries and although this a tough ask fresh would not leave out of place chances.

Really looking forward to this 3YO race with plenty of promising horse flesh involved. Settled on CHERRY TORTONI first-up. Did nothing wrong winning all three starts at first prep culminating in Listed win this track. Can win again.

IMMORTAL LOVE is another unbeaten gelding. Resumes with an exciting last stride win in Group 3 company at Caulfield last start. Major player.

CROSSHAVEN hit the line strongly when got within a length of Immortal Love at Caulfield and run better than finishing position suggests. Sure to be suited by the big Flemington straight and must include.

BARTLEY did it tough but still sprinted away for soft win at Warwick Farm last start. This a step up but he is sure to be right in the mix.

Top two clear picks for me in this. ARCADIA QUEEN looked like she would take plenty out of her first-up try. Strips much fitter for this and Flemington is sure to suit this long striding filly and she can win this.

SAVATIANO finished too well to win the Group 2 Lawrence Stakes first-up. Drawn to get the perfect run in behind the speed and will be hard to hold off last 200m.

AFFAIR TO REMEMBER was only getting wound up late in her race at Caulfield first-up. She won second-up last time in work and expect she will be a big improver.

Did not mind the run of MY GOLD BRACELET in Australia for the first time last start. Fitter and won at Group 2 level in New Zealand second-up last prep. Could be the surprise.

Going with one of my favourites here in THE INEVITABLE first-up from spell in what looks an even race. Not sure the inside barrier is a plus but look for him to drift to middle for cover before pouncing last 200m. Should get each way value for him.

GREAT AGAIN has been racing in honest form with three straight placings at Stakes level. Deserves a win and will not get better chance than this.

ZOUTORI nearly won a Group 1 Oakleigh Plate first-up last time in work when just failed to run down Pippie. Will sit back but if he gets clear room last 200m will power over these.

DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR was beaten less than 2 lengths first-up at Caulfield. Rarely runs a bad race and he will be in this for a long way.

DJANGO FREEMAN ran second in a Group 1 German Derby before coming to Australia. Thought his two runs last time in work were super. I think he will be competitive in better races than this and happy to go with him at each way value.

AKTAU resumes. Finished last prep with strong Listed Mornington Cup win and that made it three wins from his four starts. On home track and he will run a forward race fresh.

SHOT OF IRISH took no part after rearing at The Valley. Expect he will control this race from the front and if he can steal a cheap sectional may take some catching.

Liked the way SA Schweppes Oaks winner TOFFEE TONGUE got to the line first-up at Caulfield. She looks like she will relish the big Flemington straight and would not leave her out of multiples.

BUMPER BLAST finished too well to win down the straight here first-up then although bit flat last start was not disgraced. Looking for him to bounce back third-up from spell ad will be on him each way.

WINDSTORM just left his run a touch too late at Caulfield last start but did catch the eye final stages. He gets out to 1400m for the first time but racing as though it will suit.

ADELAIDE ACE could be a surprise packet at odds in this. Race fitness told when weakened at Caulfield first-up. Strips fitter and will make his own luck sitting forward. Will look winner at some stage in straight.

ICONOCLASM is another who will be better second-up. He has won three of his seven starts this track/distance and from inside gate should get all the favours.

Probably the most anticipated return to racing of the day will be RUSSIAN CAMELOT. High up in the markets in most of the big races during the Spring and he gets his chance to start campaign in Group 1 company. He has come a long way in short time but must go on top.

FIERCE IMPACT was the star miler of last Spring winning the Toorak and Cantala. Enormous run first-up in the Winx Stakes and with that run under his girth he is sure to strip fitter. He can win.

Forget MASTER OF WINE wet around in the Winx Stakes when he was wide throughout and entitled to tire. He is much better than that and look for vast improvement.

The pride of South Australia DALASAN has race fitness on a few of these. Comes into this third-up of two competitive placings in Stakes class. He will be strong at the end of his race.

PRAGUE is the big query resuming for the in form Maher/Eustace stable. Competitive in the top 2YO races last prep culminating with an ATC Sires Produce placing. Won two trials leading into this and although first time down the Flemington straight happy to go with him.

RANTING was an eye catcher when beaten a length at Caulfield last start. Comes into this third-up from spell and he looks ready to win.

PERSONAL was placed in the Blue Diamond at first prep before drawing out in the car park in the Golden Slipper and being well held. Promising filly who has won down the Flemington straight and that a big advantage.

WISDOM OF WATER won the Group 3 Ken Russell in a canter two starts back then may have had enough when tiring in Group 1 company before break. Races well fresh and sure to be in the mix.

Going to throw one in the mix at big odds in this in the first start AMURI. Very unusual for the McEvoy stable to be throwing debutants in Listed race of this caliber. She has done enough in her jumpouts to suggest she has ability and going to have a sneaky each ay wager on her.

MINHAAJ created a big impression down the Flemington straight two starts back when she strolled in before tiring off a tough run in the Golden Slipper. Resumes and expect she will be in finish.

PARLOPHONE won a Listed race in Adelaide by a spaced two starts back then threw chances away when wanted to buck last start. If she is on best behaviour she has the talent to get away with this.

LETZBEGLAM has plenty of speed. Won two of three starts in her 2YO season before tiring in the Blue Diamond. She will be up front for long way.
