Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s Caulfield meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races on the Caulfield course. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Soft 6

Rail Position: Out +9m entire circuit

SOVEREIGN AWARD has been perfect winning both starts this time in. She was given little peace at The Valley last start but still good enough to hold on for strong win. Just keeps stepping up to the mark and she can win again.

MRS O’MALLEY looks ready to win. Two close placings leading into this and if leaders roll along too hard in this she will be the one to finish all over them. Must include in winning chances.

NO EFFORT chased home into minor placing in a better race at The Valley last start. Drawn to get all the favours and she looks in a winnable race here.

CLEAN ACHEEVA makes her own luck going forward. She was strong late winning at Cranbourne and although this a touch harder she can sneak into a placing.

Surely PROPELLE gets her right race to return to the winners stall. Chased home strongly behind the smart Brooklyn Hustle at The Valley last start and that form looks superior to a few of these. Drawn to get all the favours.

FIGHT comes out of the same Valley race as Propelle where he had little luck. Only needs a better run to be right in this.

MISTER MOGUL was strong to the line winning at Flemington two starts back then followed up with close placing last start. Drawn to get the perfect run in transit and must include in chances.

THE CLOSER resumes from spell. Placed at The Valley fresh last time in work and although this harder would not leave out of multiples.

In what is a very even bunch of mares here I am going to stick with OUR CAMPANA who comes into this third-up from spell. She won this track/distance first-up then sent out favourite last start but was just touch flat late. Drawn to get ideal run and expect her to finish off a touch better.

CHASSIS finished the race off strongly to win here last start. Should be plenty of speed on for her again and she will be the one screaming home last 200m.

EMBRACE ME is the class mare resuming from a spell. She only just missed at Flemington first-up last time in work and from her inside gate should get all the favours.

Hard to leave BLESS HER out of winning chances. Won all four this time in and just keeps measuring up to class rises. She will be in finish again.

Surely PLEIN CIEL wins this. Shared the prize at The Valley two starts back then went to Flemington and was just plain last 100m. Has race fitness on a couple of the chances in this and happy to put him on top.

EXASPERATE resumes. Won three of four starts to finish last campaign. Would keep an eye on any market support for guide to fitness but would not leave out.

THINK WE’RE DUE got well back at The Valley first-up and never got close. Will be fitter from that outing and sure to be an improver.

LAST WEEK settled out the back here first-up and was only getting warm late. Another who will strip fitter and cannot leave out of multiples.

RULERSHIP resumes from spell. He won in a canter at Randwick on debut then came to Melbourne and was placed in Group 3 company this track/distance. Recent trial win was impressive and he may just be bit too classy for these.

RANTING is another first-up from spell. Placed on heavy ground this track on debut then went to Adelaide and was in the money in Group 3 field despite racing greenly. Expect he will have matured and looks a major player.

LARIMER STREET was competitive in some top class races in his two-year-old season including a Listed win at The Valley. Expect he will be the one sitting back near rear but has big finish and will be steaming home late.

HYDRO STAR started favourite on debut at Hillside and was class above his rivals. This a big step up but he looks to have plenty of promise and would not leave out.

Going to have something each way on FRESH first-up from spell. She gave a maiden field a galloping lesson at Geelong on debut then followed with close placing in the Blue Diamond Preview this track. If forward enough she will be right in the mix.

PARLOPHONE looks the obvious danger. Showed sharp turn-of-hoof to dash away and win in Listed company at Morphettville last start. Lines up for third win in a row this time in and can win this.

ARYAAF resumes. Had no luck when always wide in the G1 Blue Diamond before going for a break. She is a Group 3 winner fresh and would not be surprised to see her run cheeky race fresh.

RIVER NIGHT raced consistently last time in work including a Listed win at Caulfield. Was solid in recent jumpout and ready to show up first-up.

I think the advantage for VIRIDINE is he has race fitness on a couple of his main chances. Strong to the line winning the G3 Bletchingly this track/distance last start ad no reason he cannot make it two in a row.

AGE OF CHIVALRY is a class gelding resuming from spell. Just found them a little too slick in the G2 Rubiton first-up last time in work. Should get perfect run in behind the speed and have last crack at leaders from the 200m.

BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER just did take on some hot races last time in work and only battled. He has won two of four first-up and class will take him a long way.

If the rain arrives in big numbers like predicted the the old boy JUNGLE EDGE comes into calculation. If track condition is heavy then he must be included in multiples.

Caulfield R8 – P.B.Lawrence Stakes (Group 2) 1400m

REGAL POWER returns to the scene of his All Star Mile triumph before a break. He was beaten just on a length over 1800m in Group 2 company this track last prep despite racing in worst part of the track. Will be better over further but will be steaming home late in this.

MYSTIC JOURNEY resumes. The pride of Tasmania returns to the mainland coming off a solid trial win at Devonport. Won three of her five first-up tries and with likelihood of rain she will be suited fresh.

CASCADIAN always races well fresh. Won two of his four fresh runs including solid Group 3 effort last time in work. Always had an opinion of him and Oliver takes ride here and must respect.

STREETS OF AVALON had no luck when always wide in the G3 Bletchingly here first-up but still chased hard behind Viridine. Only needs that form to be a factor in this.

The promising West Australian SHOWMANSHIP makes his Victorian debut. Hard to line up his form for the Eastern states and would not be rushing into the short odds but on what we have seen he has won with plenty in reserve and if Pike can get him into clear air last 200m he should finish too well for these.

EL QUESTRO looks the likely speed and she was dominant winning at Flemington last start. If she gets her own way she will take some catching again.

ADELAIDE ACE resumes from spell. Won with something in hand fresh when last in work before competitive prep. Would not be surprised to see him run a cheeky race.

WILMOT PASS was luckless at The Valley last start when badly held-up back on the fence and should have won. Only needs ounce of luck from the corner to be in finish.
