Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Moruya and Tamworth race meetings. Good luck, punters.
Moruya R1 – Mdn Plate 920m
This should be a helter-skelter affair. I’m a little concerned with POET’S OCTAVE being drawn so deep but he did show dashing gate speed on debut when he led a maiden field before wilting late. that was similar type of race but over 1200m. So today, shorter race is in his favour – if he finds the front. He also has experience now and presumably is a length of so fitter. There has been money for EPAUVESCENT who ran a gutsy 3rd this grade last start. They look the quinella for me.
Moruya R4 – Maiden Hcp 1425m
Two last start placegetters should fight this out. They are BUDDEROO BLITZ and LIGHTS ON THE HILL. Both made impressive ground to grab 2nd in their respective races at this level. I think Lights On The Hill probably has the most upside. He’s drawn really well here and that 2nd was his 2nd run from a spell and he was beaten by a horse who subsequently won again. So the form looks really sharp. Probably settles in 5th spot, one off the fence and should be running home very strongly. Quinella them both.
Tamworth R6 – Flying Hcp 1000m
At the weights this looks a pretty even field. I’m taking risk on WANT TO BOLT here who has had just one race in two years, that was last start which was a fortnight ago. He was on speed at this level and weakened to finish 5th, which was understandable. Shorter trip here and he should strip a lot fitter. What I noticed was that he opened at $31 last start and was backed into $13. That suggests he is showing a good deal at home. Respect all that. Lots of money has come in for I’M A CRACKER so quinella them.
