Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three horse racing tips from Taree & Bathurst. Good luck, punters!
This could be a great betting race. The bottom weighted horse SHE’LL BE APPLES has yet to race but did win a city trial and the money has come for her overnight. But the form horse is now the forgotten horse in OLD HARBOUR. He made good ground last start when 2nd in this grade over 1000m and gets 100m further to deal with. On top of that, he ran past DEEPSTAR that day and that horse is in the market here too. Meets her 2.5kg better. DAKSHA is twice placed including at the provincials and probably starts favourite. A fascinating affair so quinella them all up!
Tip: OLD HARBOUR
I really like the look of this Newcastle trained galloper FROM THE HIP in this. He meets all the salient aspects of finding a winner. He’s the best performed, he has a perfect gate, he has a top rider and he is improving with racing. He has not raced over this journey before but the slightly easier early tempo should suit and I just think he looks the winner.
Tip: FROM THE HIP
I think this guy HENSCHEL looks the winner here. But I will have DEBRIEF in quinellas with him. Henschel is trained by Allan Denham and is now back in form. After being totally thrashed by Ice In Vancouver, he went to Port Macquarie under 60.5kg and returned to form winning there. This is a stronger grade but doesn’t look a stronger field if you know what I mean. Plus, he has been crunched overnight on the corporates. Big show.
