Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s Canterbury meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 7 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Heavy 8

Rail Position: out 3m, entire circuit

CELTIC HARP is fast and led on debut at breakneck speed before wilting late. This is easier and he should be fitter. Big, big show.

DRAGONSTONE has yet to race but did win a trial recently. Has lots of speed. Watch the market. Is in a stable that is in form and he was backed overnight.

WHEEL gets back and hits the line well. He’s had two starts thus far and placed both times, at the provincials and this is longer so should suit more.

Tip: WHEEL

Lots of chances here. If IBARAKI , who is on debut in this, can handle the heavy track he may take beating. Has run in two trials and won them both. Being drawn deep may help today.

This looks a nice race for TEXCEL to resume in. He has talent, well past what’s needed to win a maiden and he has trialled well. Was on pace before wilting late in that exceptionally strong maiden at the Gold Coast last start.

WASSERMAN looked a big show upon debut last start when on pace in a similar race but just wilted late. That run will have tightened him up. Can improve.. Looks read made and will take catching. Terrific contest.

Tip: TEXCEL

On debut BARRICHELLO made good ground late to place 4th in town in a similar race. Must strip better for that effort and has Jay Mac on top today.

SILLY POINT resumes here with a nice trial under his belt but more importantly in his first campaign he placed twice in city maidens so clearly has enough talent.

PREMOSPHERE resumed from a spell in a good enough maiden last start and was on speed until she wasn’t late and ran 4th.  Much fitter now too so looms large.

Tip: SILLY POINT

Tough race here with a few hopes. TURNSTYLE won a midweek race looking pretty handy then sent to Sat grade and found out the hard way how much tougher it is. Weakened late to run last beaten 5 lengths. This is much easier.

CALESCENT gets into this quite well after the 2kg allowance. Has been strong late in past few this grade and should again here.

IRISH ANGEL was right in the fray every start this grade last campaign. Resumes here, has the rails and looms large. Was on the improve every run.

Tip: TURNSTYLE

Good race. EL COHETE is 2nd up here and is in the right race after a solid 7th when resuming. Did win 2nd up last campaign. Looks perfectly placed in this. Strong claims.

INVINCIBLE LAD runs well in this class. Last start was 2nd in this same grade behind a very smart one last week. Quick back-up suits too. Will sit back and be competitive late.

FASTCONI is very, very close to a win. Has been impressive and unlucky in all 3 runs this time up and has placed in all of them. If he handles the mud he should win. Respect.

Tip: FASTCONI

Interesting race because lots of different types in this. By this stage track will be cut right up so they probably will get wide. TITANIUM POWER was placed this grade last start after leading and he does boast some very handy wet track form too. That may all get him over the line in this.

With now eight on his back and being in form makes WILD CHAP a chance. Plus, he loves it wet. Will no doubt drive to the lead and stay there despite being up in class.

At the weights CANADIAN SPICE has strong claims. Did win a similar race last start in town and that shows she is in superb form.  Expect her to be near lead out of the way of the mud, all the way.

Tip: CANADIAN SPICE

MONTSERRAT looks deliciously well placed. He has run himself into form and will be on pace all the way. Is very fit and the 3kg claim is such a massive help. Respect.

TIME RAID will get back and probably run on. Did that last start when 2nd in a similar race at big odds. Drawn well.

MACUSHLA has had 4 runs this time up, best of them was a good looking 4th last start in similar grade suggesting she’s ready. Has won twice on heavy tracks.

 Tip:  MONTSERRAT
