Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Saturday’s Royal Randwick meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 9
Rail Position: Out 9m 1600m to w/p, then 7m remainder
It will be interesting to see if the big money for BAZOOKA during the week will pan out. was impressive dashing late for 2nd last start and is 3rd up.
SYNCLINE has won past two and was scratched from Royal Banquet’s race to be saved for this. He is pretty smart and should rush late as he is super fit.
Similarly, LUBUK has been scratched from assignments recently for this. Since coming back to Sydney he has improved a great deal. Is 3rd up and ready to run a blinder.
I love Highways. Cameron Crockettbrings his very speedy galloper GOLDEN AVENGER to town and he is 3rd up. If he is allowed to get loose on the front, he could turn with a winning lead. He’ll drift to the centre of the track and in the wet he might just keep going.
Terrific contest. LIBERTY HEAD has won three races already and Brooke Stower has been on top each time. She rarely ever comes to town so it is very significant and pleasing to see her ride him here. He is pretty smart too having won his past two runs. He gets back and runs on and that style works in Highways. Expect him late.
GLAMOUR CAT has run just behind the placegetters at past three runs in Highways. The bad draw here may actually help as the track could be firmer out there.
Tip: LIBERTY HEAD
The wet track is an annoyance here. Top jock Jason Collett got the assignment all wrong last start on NOBLE BOY. He was right up on speed, admittedly, in a strong race and just folded up late. Quick back-up here, lesson learned I see him sitting back probably last early then coming down the outside in the better going and atoning for his poor run last start. Is very fit.
MAN OF PEACE has been an owner’s absolute joy. He’s won 12 races and placed another 18 times for nearly half a million in stakes money. He is just soooo honest and consistent. Rises to open grade for the first time here but he led all way here to win a BM 88 last start. Loves the mud. Runs on hard in the straight after leading.
KORDIA is up in class here but she is very talented. Is third up today. Won while fresh then made ground late when 4th. Watch betting.
Tip: NOBLE BOY
Interesting race. Impossible to work out.
How good is this bush filly LOOK ONLY? She has won her past four starts and has already won at Randwick. She resumes here but bolted in when resuming last campaign. This is way harder than anything she has been in but might be pretty handy.
DE GRAWIN is very fit and racing well enough. Should nearly lead these with this light weight and has comfortably won her past two starts doing that. Is up in class here but drops massively in weight.
This Godolphin filly EMANATE seems rather talented too. Three starts to date and they have all been very honest. She likes to be on pace and seems to be getting stronger each run.
Tip: LOOK ONLY
Good race. WORD FOR WORD gets back and runs on. That’s it. She is talented enough to win this and is extremely fit. Drawn well enough for her racing style, has Jay Mac on and must be in your numbers.
ADANA is a stablemate of Word For Word and she too is a get back and run on type. Looks well enough placed and can run a place.
DERBARI is in form albeit in much weaker grade. But is consistent and has absolutely no weight on his back. Will be on speed and that weight advantage is too much to overlook. Has to be fancied.
Oh, what a tough race. So many chances. Whittling it down to three is hard but I think the last start winner DECROUX is in this well enough. Can get through the mud and carry weight. Came with a wet sail last start in town to land the chocolates in a similar race.
KISS THE BRIDE is very close to a win. He’ll sit just behind the pace and has good enough wheels on a wet track to make him a threat this grade. Looks a top chance.
MONSIEUR SISU is the logical pace and if left alone he looks well placed this grade. Pretty reliable type this grade.
Tip: KISS THE BRIDE
Off the good draw here SINGLE BULLET could be strong late. Did win a race in similar grade when last in work. Resumes here with a claim so rates a show.
BLACK MAGNUM was checked a few times in the run home last start when resuming. The race was probably stronger than this and he ran 4th. Fitter now and looks the one to beat.
SANGRIA won a trial on the Polytrack but a furlong during the week ears pricked. Might be back in superb fashion. Watch market as she did win handsomely first-up last campaign.
Tip: BLACK MAGNUM
At the weights the toppie here MONEGAL looms large. Three runs this time in have all been outstanding. Is honest and strong late. Trip looks ideal too.
GUISE never seems to win but does always dash late suggesting a big show next run. Well, today is next run. Have in your numbers.
LE LUDE is fit and in form following a solid win in easier grade last start. Has drawn well and is trained here.
Just such a tough way to end the day STELLA SEA SUN was 7th this grade last start but gets 3kg claim here and is going to improve a great deal. Have in your numbers. Big show.
STEEL DIAMOND is racing consistently and in form. Will dash late.
CHARRETERA hasn’t won for a fair while but has placed at past three runs all this grade. Is very fit, honest and is on home track.
