Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1 Eagle Farm JJ Atkins for 2YOs with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. TIGER OF MALAY (11) 1×52751

T: Team Freedman/J: Craig Williams (57kg)

Got right out to start at $19 last start but he was clearly the best horse in the race when he sat back 6th to the bend then unleashed to grab the lead with 100m to go and hang on strongly and claim the Gr 2 Sires’ over 1400m. Beat home many of these including the heavily backed Converge. Have in your numbers.

2. CONVERGE (5) 1×62132

T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Tim Clark (57kg)

Really good galloper in the making and if he wins this his value will be through the roof given his pedigree. And he looks extremely hard to beat. Came from a hopeless position on the bend, in fact was 16th, as they turned yet stormed home like Bernborough to claim 2nd and was rapidly taking ground off Tiger Of Malay in the Gr 2 Sires’ over 1400m. Clearly the extra 200m will suit a great deal.

3. SUBTERRANEAN (4) 313×5318

T: Matty Dunn / J: Nash Rawiller (57kg)

Class galloper, and did win the Gr 3 Ken Russell two starts back when flashing late but then made slow ground from well back when 8th in the 1400m Sires’. Didn’t really threaten though.

4. OVERPASS (3) 21114

T: Bjorn Baker / J: Josh Parr (57kg)

Smart galloper who won three on the bounce in NSW in weaker grade before stepping up to silk department and a strong 4th in the Gr 2 Sires’ over 1400m. Was doing best work late but it must be said he had a fantastic run during the race.  Place show.

5. PORT LOUIS (13) 3253

T: Ciaron Maher/David Eustace/ J: Hugh Bowman (57kg)

This bloke is still a maiden but he looks a real star in the making and this journey may well suit a great deal. Sprinted brilliantly at the top of the straight when coming from 14th and looked like storming away to win the Sires’ but just peaked on his run last 75m. Had 4 weeks earlier run a cracking 5th in fast time in the 1600m Gr 1 Champagne in Sydney. Will be rock hard and ready for this.

6. VOLCANIC ROCK (6) 18×21

T: Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott / J: Opie Bosson (57kg)

Interesting galloper. Resumed from a spell at Rosehill and led until the final bound over 1300m when nabbed by rival Overmann. Then sent to Qld and was on speed all the way before darting clear and winning the 1500m Phoenix last week at stakes level. Probably leads these a merry dance too. Is a stablemate to back marker Converge.

7. RANCH HAND (2) 135×20

T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (57kg)

Smart galloper in the making before flopping at 1400m in the Sires’ last start finishing a plodding 11th. This is harder but is 3rd up now so is fitter and previous form was handy.

8. BLUSHING TYCOON (12) 8321

T: Trent Busuttin/Nat Young / J: Jy McNeil (57kg)

Ran home hard to just miss in the 1400m Sth Aust Sires’ then at Flemington was on speed all the way before winning, narrowly, over 1400m. Rising in class but is handy.

9. OVERMANN (7) 4×421

T: Team Hawkes / J: Tommy Berry (57kg)

Very smart horse in the making. Lightly raced but is doing all the right things. Resumed from a spell on a heavy track and led until close to the line when 2nd then came home hard to beat Volcanic Rock who subsequently won at stakes level. Gives the impression the trip will suit a lot. Place.

10. CAPE BRETON (10) 11

T: Chris Waller / J: Glen Boss (57kg)

Unbeaten in two race starts but this is a big ask as he won at Rosehill last Saturday with 58kg. Gave them all weight but was just too tough. Then straight on the truck and up here for a Gr 1. If he wins, he is extremely good.

11. GIANNIS (8) 53×75

T: Chris Waller /J: Kerrin McEvoy (57kg)

Smart horse in the making but is still a maiden from 4 starts and missed a place, although far from disgraced, in the Gr 2 Sires’ last start.

12. DARK REBEL (1) 10

T: Ed Cummings / J: Ben Thompson (57kg)

Looked smart winning a midweek in Sydney when on debut then never gave a yelp when last start Tiger Of Malay in the Sires’. No.

13. THREE WISE MEN (9) 273

T: Ed Cummings / J: Jim Byrne (57kg)

Is a maiden but with a good deal of talent. This may be too soon for him but he gave notice of talent to come when he flashed home for 3rd to Overmann over 1300m last start.

14. INVISIBLE TEARS (14) 42×229

T: Gillian Heinrich / J: Michael Cahill (57kg)

Smart filly who is also a maiden b ut has placed in good races like the Champagne behind Prince Of Boom. Trip may bother at this level.

Tip: 1. CONVERGE,  2. Port Louis, 3. Tiger Of Malay, 4. Overmann
