Saturday at the Track – Caulfield Feb 8th Preview

1. If you follow the money, this English import BUR DUBAI looks the winner. He has great form abroad at this level. Resumes here on Aussie debut and has been very heavily backed.

2. Similarly, the toppie ONE LONG DAY has met with plenty of Friday support. That’s always a terrific inside guide. Beaten a nose last start.

3. Mark Zahra’s mount LIBERAMI represents some value and should run well as his price on Friday remained steady despite the push for the above pair.

Numbers: 6 – 1- 9

1. CABLE DANCER is 3rd up and Friday money has been solid. Has firmed from $13 to $8.50 and looks from this draw to come across and get a great run.

2. There is a big boom on this lightly raced EMPHASIZE who won his maiden last start by 4 lengths at Sale. This is harder but the Friday money has been impressive firming a lot.

3. INEVITABLE AWARD is racing well and is very fit. Won this grade at Flemington 2 starts back and has been well tried.

1. An absolute avalanche of money came on Friday for TOURISTIC after he opened at $16. By midday it was hard to find $5 for him. He’s 2nd up here, did impressively win a trial and did win 2nd up last prep.

2. Everything took a bath in the market after the money for Touristic, everything except BERKSHIRE BREEZE who stayed solid. He resumes here. has had 2 trials. Have in your numbers.

3. SPEYCASTER is 2nd up here and can go close if the money is spot on. Opened at$6.50 but blew to $9 after the Touristic money, but interestingly has firmed up again. The only horse who has.

Numbers: 7 – 2 -10

1. Godolphin juvenile ALEPPO PINE may emerge as a major Gr 1 player this year if the money is right. They have not missed him on Friday frenzy betting. He’s unbeaten and drawn to run well.

2. Lots of money, surprisingly to me for TYCOON STAR. He resumes here from a really awkward gate. Did win stakes race on debut but this is hard and he sits wide all the way. Still, the money is impressive.

3. FIELD OF PLAY has the right gate, the right jock, is unbeaten and the horse he thrashed on debut has won in town since. Well backed too for this.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3

1. Very few juveniles have been more impressive than MY GLADIOLA on debut who chimed in like it was a stroll in the park to win at Sandown. Has been backed accordingly on Friday.

2. This unraced filly EXCENIA who is by Exceed and Excel is interesting. She opened at $18 but has been very solidly backed to cause a major upset firming into $10. Did win a recent barrier trial impressively.

3. While My Gladiola was the standout, in 4th that day was MISS CELINE who made enormous ground from 11th on the turn and will appreciate the extra 100m here.

Numbers: 1 – 9 – 2

1. The ultra-consistent speedster MAHARBA looms large here. He never runs a bad race and has been very well supported on Friday. He resumes here but if betting tells the story he wins.

2. Either stable knowledge or astute judges have agreed but very steady money overnight for the bottom horse MISS ARIA makes pro punters give her a second look. Firmed from $21 to $14 and may tighten up even more.

3. The market has the mare PRAIRIE FLOWER in next ahead of INSURRECTION which surprises me as he is a better sprinter than her. Still, she has won her past 2 in style.

Numbers: 2 – 10 -8

1. The pro punters only want one runner here – ANGEL CAPITAL. He resumes here after winning 3 races last prep. he gets back and runs on. The big punters think he swamps these.

2. Even EVAPORATE, who won 4 straight last prep, has blown. Still, he’s too good to leave out.

3. DETROIT CITY has raced only 4 times mostly on wet tracks and has won twice. This is harder but someone likes him enough and he’s been steady during Friday trading.

1. If Friday Frenzy money is the best quide, which I rate it is, then get on the Caulfield Cup winner DUKE DE SESSA in this. He’ll probably start around $9 but he opened more than double that and they have just kept coming for him. He’s first up here and probably sits 2nd in the run behind Buffalo River.

2. CHORLTON LANE hasn’t been missed either. He’s very fit and placed at his past 5 starts this level.

3. MARBLE ACH has been backed each way and why not – 2 wins from past 3 runs have him peaking.

Numbers: 1 – 4 – 11

1. Money has been strong enough to suggest old MR BRIGHTSIDE can resume here a winner. strong field but his fresh form is great.

2. He’s a great each-way quote at the moment but specking has started for PINSTRIPED who it must be noted, did run down Mr Brightside this trip in a Gr 1 last prep when resuming. He resumes here again! was $10 on Friday.

3. The biggest bets however are for the boom horse ANOTHER WIL who also is first-up. He has been well-trie onm Friday.

4. This 3YO colt PRIVATE LIFE has met with astute money. He’s a Gr 1 winner as an early 3YO over a mile and likes to be on speed. from here sits 2nd to the bend then comes hard.

Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 -10

1. There are three definite big movers here so this should be a great race. And a tough one to land the cash. The biggest mover is ARABIAN SUMMER whose form is sparkling and who is 3rd up here.

2. DRIFTING has the rails marble and resumes here but those who know the Snowden stable have placed their faith in her. She’s firmed 3 points on Friday.

3. LA VIE EN hasn’t faired well at the gates but that hasn’t stopped her fans. She is also 3rd up and some good, telling bets have been written against her name. Keep her safe.
