Aurie's Star Handicap
SPLASH BACK was an incredible run when she won from back in the field and pulled clear to win by a length at the finish. She is a very lightly raced mare and will likely get back again in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star 1200m but if she sees clear air over the concluding stages, she could be running all over them again to put three on the trot.
Headquarters Handicap
Going with ILLYIVY to put two wins together in the last. She was extremely wayward last time at Caulfield down the straight but had enough ability to get the job done at the wire. She looks suited here at headquarters and given plenty of room to wind up once they turn for home. Does look to be a nice each-way bet.
William Pike Handicap
Giving SUPERSESSION one last chance to break back into the winner’s stall. He seemed to be ridden upside down last start on the heavy at Bunbury and compounded after sitting on pace. He’s a much better horse when allowed to settle back in clear air. Appears well weighted with the claim and you should get a good run for your money here at good odds.
BM90 Handicap
TUFF TU MUS has put six wins together on the trot and I can find no reason it wont be seven. Drawn perfectly to get the tag along from the draw and Ryan Maloney takes over today. The distance rise should not be a problem as he settles well in the run and look for him to be surging clear on straightening for home and adding to his resume.
Open Handicap
METALART was scratched last week with the wet track but butters up here from the ideal low draw today. Has had that freshen up since his last run in late June, so the 1000m should suit perfectly at this stage of the campaign and with the claim for Corey Sutherland he gets in with only 2kgs more than when he won that Group 3 Healy Stakes. Looks extremely hard to beat.
