Kembla Race 2 (1200m) 2:55 pm

Horses for courses and SHOW PONY, who has won at this track and is trained here, looks the play to me. She resumes here after a runaway maiden win back in June. Has trialled very impressively. Probably jumps fast from this alley and charges to the front where she should stay.

There are wraps on this Kiwi import UNUSUAL PROSPECT. Not so much as a star of the future but certainly as being good enough to win here on his Aussie debut. Did place at his only race start in NZ in a low key maiden and did trial quite well in Sydney recently. Watch market but if you can find odds against, means he’s probably a good bet.

This mare ANGEL IN THE WIND is no champion but at 3rd start, this time up after finishing hard from a mile back to grab 3rd at Newcastle last start, means she may be good enough for this. Doesn’t travel in the float anywhere near as far to race today and is fitter over a trip that should suit more. Looks very hard to hold out for mine. Toss C’Mon Mate in for the quinella as he has been heavily backed.

Sandown Race 5 (1200m) 6:00 pm

I suspect this filly POP AWARD might well be Saturday grade and maybe even stakes class. If so, she wins this comfortably. As she did when resuming in a weaker race. Lots of money has come for her overnight as well. Blake Shinn rides.

I’m going for value here and at each way odds this might prove a handy bet. MY ROCA FELLA is a stayer resuming here and will need to sprint well while fresh to finish over these. But a recent jump out when placed suggested he might be able to do that. Was running against better grade when last in work. Big money has come for Sepals so quinella them.
