BLUE VEIN seemed all at sea when resuming last start in a very similar graded race. was 8th for home but let down very well when he knew what to do and flashed late to grab 3rd. Was in front 2 strides past post. Fitter now and should dash too fast for these late. City Gold Banner can bob for the quinella play.

After 4 failures in this grade, you’d think punters should give up on RAILWAY MAN, but there is just something about him that suggests he is going to work this game out. He is still a colt too which suggests a lot re his potential. Last start, when resuming in a super Mdn, he was beaten just over 3 lengths by Tuileries who is very smart and in a $2million race in Qld this weekend. So, I think there’s enough around him to get on him here.

Tough little field but DON’T DOUBT MERLIN has won 2 of past 4 starts and has experience at this level. Is very fit and on top of that is trained here and that’s a big advantage. Seems suited by the 1200m. Lots of money for Bartolf but to me his form isn’t as good. Quinella though.

I’m tipping an upset here and again I’m swayed by track bias. I think TIGER TOWN, who isn’t overly fast but does have finishing power, can finish over these. He is 3rd up and he has run on in slightly tougher and shorter races past couple to fail by 2 lengths. Will settle near the rear but he is trained here and has won here. Quinella with Ravello.

DIABLO BOLT is rising in grade here and is 2nd up but he came with a powerful burst under 60kg last start to win on the sunny Coast. Previous campaign did win 2nd up so may well be back better than ever. Should love this trip. Quinella with Navy Seal.
