Best Bets – Wednesday 9th October

The money has come overnight for Chris Waller’s Canara but I’m scratching my head as to why. I truly think his other runner, LECONFIELD, is very smart and will fly over the top of these late. Tommy Berry, who is in form, takes the ride. The horse resumes here after 2 nice efforts when last in work and has trialled quietly. Quinella them.

I just like the look of this big front-runner SPANISH FOX. He gets along at a fast rate and has won his past 2 starts, latest in Cl 1 at Hawkesbury leading all the way. Should find the front early here too and he can kick. Looks the one for me from Darling Downs.

They have come from the trees to back Chris Waller’s emerging star Captain Furai here overnight but again I think the market is out – I’m on Waller’s other runner CONGREGATION who is 3rd up after two solid efforts in extremely fast run races. Sting out of the ground will help here and he has a definite fitness edge. Quinella them up but it should be a terrific race.

Here’s the topical tip of the day: HELLO WORLD. He is third up, suited to this grade, and should fly home. But, on top of that, he’s named after the great John Laws, whose opening words EVERY show were “Hello World.” Laws retired from broadcasting yesterday. Get on.

I like ADDITION who scored a come-from-behind win at the Sunny Coast over 1400m, then last start up to Class 2, he tried to do the same here getting back and dashing late. Came up short in 3rd spot. Back in class here and looks hard to hold out.
