Best Bets – Wednesday 14 January

Good maiden this but the horse Jay mac is riding trialled like it was very smart. It’s name is ASTRONOMIX and although he’s on debut here I think you can ager with some confidence. There will be pace a plenty in this but he looks relaxed and has acceleration in his legs.

Here’s another unraced one, this time from Gai and Adrian’s barn named DOUBLE VISION. She’s a 4YO and yet to race but her 2 trials, particularly the latest one, have been really impressive. Went to the line ears pricked after bounding to the front from gate rise last trial. Super maiden here so this is strong but she looks a jump and run home hard type. Worth having a go at.

This mare SHANONI is 2nd up but hits the line hard and she is going to love this track. Resumed with a 3rd this grade at Gosford and never looked comfortable. Gets a 3kg claim and watch for her late at each way odds. Is much better value than the odds on pop Unleeshing who should run 2nd.

This bloke CALTSAR may be a racehorse. Resumed at Newcastle last start in an easier race, but was on the fence, had do room, moved outside one, was ridden by a 3kg apprentice, and finished hard final 100m to narrowly win in a race he was never going to win. A world of difference in rider here, is also fitter, and could just go bang out wide late.

Lottery as these staying midweek races always are but I did like the manner in which SO LONG FAREWELL finished off to win an easier race last start at Gosford. Was well tried that day and is getting better with racing. Will appreciate the long straight here.
