Castelvecchio Mdn
Tough maiden to work out and it has been complicated by the fact Chris Waller’s stable rider Jay mac has chosen to rise CEREMONIOUS. And I think that galloper is not as good as the other runner from the stable WIPEOUT. Obviously quinella them but the fitness level of wipeout combined with the fact she will be on speed says to me Wipeout lands the chocolates.
Schweppes Plate
As a form man it is very hard for me to reconcile tipping against a Group performer who is resuming in a midweek maiden! so, naturally, I wont. I’m on SILMARILLION despite the fact she has blown like a hurricane since prices went up with money coming for her stablemate ALPINE SKI. Quinella them but to me – class prevails here.
2&3YO Mdn
Another Godolphin filly resuming who has superior form. but is again on the blow. Don’t let that stop you having a go at PINITO. She raced and placed against far better rivals in her opening prep and should be back here even better. Looks a good bet.
James Squire Hcp
WHETU has a proven track record on heavy surfaces and gets that again here. He is pretty fit too. What I like most about him is he is trained here and he will sit behind what appears a solid speed battle between about three of them who all like to lead. The big weight is a concern hut he placed this grade last start with it too.
Happy 50th BM 78
Ciaron Maher takes his very much in form mare ELSIE MAY to Melbourne today. She has won twice recently in Sydney at BM 72 level and steps up in class here but is super fit. She likes to run home and the long straight here will suit her a great deal. MOTORACE has been well specked overnight and should battle away so maybe quinella them.
