FURPHY HANDICAP

Canterbury R1 (1200m) 12:50 pm

Last start I was on GLOBAL EMPIRE at $2.50 for a packet. He was second up in this exact grade. He stormed to the front and I thought fantastic but he was grabbed on the wire. Fitter now he looks the one to beat again and I shall recoup!

SCHWEPPES HANDICAP

Canterbury R2 (1200m) 1:25 pm

After four starts this top weight THERE THERE appears to be a Saturday grade 2YO. She is yet to win a race but has placed in all four runs, the latest when narrowly beaten by a smart one at Kensington. Sits back off the speed then comes hard late. Looks the winner with SKIP A BEAT running into 2nd spot.

OLE KIRK @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP

CANTERBURY R3 (1900m) 2:00 pm

On his past few runs you couldn’t have CHATEAUX PARK to win this, but last campaign is form was good enough. He is 4th up here, loves it being damp and this will be his first race this prep where the track will be slow. Is enigmatic but on his day he can fly late and is worth a punt here.

CHC POWERING THE CHASE HANDICAP

CANTERBURY R4 (1100m) 2:35 pm

This lightly raced filly PINK CASHMERE may not be a budding champion but I suspect there will be enormous money for her in this. She resumes from a disappointing campaign last prep. Is mature now and the stable rate her rather highly at this level. Watch betting.

SAME RACE MULTI HANDICAP

Sandown R7 (1800m) 3:55 pm

They put a stack on TIME QUEST this grade last start over a mile and after getting many lengths off the lead early, was 10th for home this track over a mile. rattled home to be beaten a length. Extra trip here, Blake Shinn to ride – looks the play to me.
