Northerly Stakes
Tipping the unbeaten three-year-old gelding in KING OF LIGHT in the Group 1 Northerly Stakes. He has taken all before him over recent weeks and has been so impressive with the dash he shows over the final stages of his races. Comes into Open class now but he drops significantly in weight. This will be his biggest test but he has the class to add a Group 1 to his resume’.
BM74 HANDICAP
NATION’S CALL won in fine fashion at The Valley back in October and has then raced in much tougher company since. Only beaten 3 lengths by Sabaj at Flemington over the carnival and then weakened out at Caulfield last time. Comes back slightly in trip, which could prove advantageous to his chances. Looks like a nice each-way play.
BALLARAT CUP
SAINT GEORGE should be ready to peak and show us what he is capable of in the Ballarat Cup. He has run two solid seconds at his past couple of runs in the Seymour Cup and then in the Cup Day Plate at Flemington last start. Gets Craig Williams to steer and he will be hard to hold out in an even Ballarat Cup.
PIERATA PLATE
GRAFTERBURNERS won well first-up breaking the track record at Eagle Farm and see no reason not to follow up again and add another success to his record. Cejay Graham takes over the reins and she has had success on this boy previously when winning at the Gold Coast. Looks one of the better bets of the day.
GEORGE MOORE STAKES
CABALLUS won the Rising Fast at Flemington over this trip and then wasn’t disgraced in going down to Giga Kick in the VRC Sprint on Champions Day. Tommy Berry comes North for the ride and he looks well suited to win again. Should get a cart into the race and look for him to be running on over the top of them late.
