OPEN HANDICAP
This looks the perfect race for CLASSIC GEM to finally break through for that elusive first win. She has raced in quality races throughout her career to date and after running on nicely from the tail first-up behind Getta Good Feeling here, she should prove hard to hold out in what looks a winnable race for her.
VICTORIA HANDICAP
PERSIAN SPIRIT has had two runs back since the new year and worked home nicely in both of them. Last time out at Flemington, nothing made ground throughout the day and he was only beaten 3 lengths by the leader, Scheelite. If you are able to make ground from back in the field today, this race maps well for him to track into the affair at the corner and run all over them late.
CLASS 6 PLATE
BUNKER HUT looks like the one they will have to beat here after two handy runs this time in at Randwick and Kembla Grange. The last time he came north, he dominated a BM90 at Doomben with Jace McMurray on board. He should get a gun run throughout and can see him swooping on them as soon as they turn for home to run away with the victory.
FIRST EMPIRE went straight into the black-book last start after flashing home late to go down by a 1/2 length to Ten Deep, whom he meets again here. Ryan Maloney takes over, and the rise back to 1400m looks absolutely perfect for him to turn the tables on his nemesis today.
ROMA CUP
Now that OSCAR’S FORTUNE has found his winning form again, there is no reason why he won’t win this year’s Roma Cup, having previously won it in 2024 over Amelia’s Jewel. His first-up run was full of merit and he will only be further improved by that effort. Looks like the one they will have to beat.
