Best Bets – Saturday 31st January

DAMASK ROSE ran a ripper of a race first-up last time in, when she came from last at the corner and stormed home to run 5th, beaten only 1.6 lengths behind Magic Time here. Had no luck in the four Group 1 races she competed in after that. This looks a lovely race for her to kick off this campaign and after a solid jump-out at Cranbourne, she should be hard to hold off first-up.

GALLANT SON looks perfectly placed here second-up to add another win to his tally. Won nicely first-up at Flemington down the straight and drawn nicely here to either hold the lead or camp just off the pace. Gets in well at the weights with the claim for Emily Pozman who is riding well and this boy should prove to be the one to beat.

REZONE has been in superb form of late winning his past couple at Sunshine Coast since coming up from Victoria for the Mark Currie camp. He has attempted the mile before without success but in the current form he is in, this certainly looks like the race to get that elusive 1600m victory. Also gets a claim for Jai Williams and will be the one they will have to beat.

I’ll be having a play at VODKA MARTINI to get back into some form here now back in a BM90 after racing at Listed and Open class events of late. Although is up in the weights, he does get the claim for Corey Sutherland and is drawn well on the fence. Has a nice sprint on him when held up and I’m hoping for a run to appear on straightening and he can show his class. Have something each-way at the double figure price.

Just forget SUPERNATURAL went around last start if you can, she had no luck from the corner being held up until the concluding stages for a run. Holly Nottle takes the ride on her again and look for her to be somewhat more positive on her today, get into the race on straightening and running over them when it counts.
