Best Bets – Saturday 22nd November

SABAJ won brilliantly at Flemington over the carnival and stays at the mile for an assault on the Cranbourne Cup here. This four-year-old gelding Is only lightly raced but does seem to have a great deal of upside, so he should be able to take the next step in class for this event and go very close. 

ZOU SENSATION looked home for the chocolates at Flemington last start but was grabbed in the final bounds by Warnie over the 1400m. The drop back in trip looks ideal as he should lead or race right on speed and should have that necessary kick to get away from them at the corner. Looks very hard to beat.

Liked the trial of HIDDEN WEALTH when he ran second to Ouroboros at Doomben recently. He has a good fresh record winning twice previously and looks well suited from the low draw to land up on speed. At the early stage in his preparation the 1000m should be perfect for him and he will take plenty of beating.

The unbeaten three-year-old gelding KING OF LIGHT looks the one to beat in this year’s W.A. Guineas. He was so impressive in his last couple of wins showing great determination and he has such an explosive sprint on him to finish off his races. The mile looks suitable and he has been the benchmark three-year-old in W.A. this year. 

WESTERN EMPIRE ran a bottler of a race first-up when he ran home powerfully from back in the field to finish only 2 lengths off the winner Super Smink whom he meets again here. He turns the draw around and should get a better run throughout and settle slightly closer. Has won three times second-up and he will take some holding off at the business end of this year’s edition of the  Group 1 Railway Stakes.
