SO SI BON
HARRY’S YACHT won well this track last start over the same distance and although he moves up slightly in class, he drops 6.5kgs for that win. Jamie Melham takes over the reins today and from an ideal barrier draw he looks very well placed by the Corstens/Larkin team to add to his winning tally.
PETER YOUNG STAKES
At weight-for-age BUCKEROO looks well suited and extremely hard to beat. His first-up run was brilliant; he stormed home to grab second behind Pericles in The Futurity over 1400m. He has won three races second-up and has never missed a place at Caulfield. Jye McNeil rode him last time and retains the ride; Buckaroo should be able to get back on the winners’ board here.
THE GOLD JEWEL
JOHN RAMBO is finding it hard to find the line in front but giving him another chance to break that drought and secure that elusive win. He drops to 52.5kgs today and has been carrying much bigger weights in recent starts. The last time he had such a lightweight, he ran 3rd to Yellow Brick here back in January. From the soft draw he looks like a fantastic each-way bet.
MILITARY ROSE PLATE
Thought ZOUBABY was home for the chocolates last start but was outgunned late by the winner Taltarni Fields and he went down narrowly. The step up in trip and the speed map, where she should get a cosy trip in behind the speed, that should be enough for her to get the job done this time around. Daniel Moor and Tony Gollan have proven a successful combination and happy to put him on top.
NATASHA STAKES
WONDERFULLY MADE won as he liked last start and the rise in trip shouldn’t pose any barriers for him and William Pike to add another Listed race to their ever growing list. He cruised past the leader and went to the line with his ears pricked being eased down to still win by 2 lengths. Hard to see then beating him in the Natasha Stakes today.
