A Day At The Track – Randwick 19th

1. By contrast PIRAEUS is ready to rumble. He hasn’t won for a while but in the mud last start over 1300m in a similar race he finished strongly from 10th for home to be beaten into 2nd place. The extra 100m will suit him.

2. TENDERIZE won that race in which Piraeus was an eye-catching 2nd in last start and gets the same type of conditions here. Is very fit, has to contend with an extra 100m but will lead and is in great form.

3. GLOUNTHAUNE should be cherry ripe now. He’s 4th up and finished on the placegetters heels last start this grade. Each way.

Tips: 7 – 3 – 10

1. Rod Northam brings his mare SYRIAN STAR to town after two starts in the bush this time up. Last run at Muswellbrook was impressive as she made good headway down the straight under 59kg in a solid Class 3. Fitter now and has drawn perfectly. Should box seat.

2. ROUGE MOULIN will find this considerably easier than last start when well back all the way in a super fast run tougher race behind Know Thyself. Probably settles midfield and charges late.

3. You can’t knock winning form and WIN THE DAY is in a rich vein. Led all the way to score at Canberra in a Class 2 then in the mud strolled in at Sapphire Coast over 1410m. This is harder but has wheels and is a mare in form.

Tips: 5 – 3 – 9

1. SWIFT FALCON looks the winner. If the track has no leader bias, and if Tyler Schiller can get on his bike early enough, then Swift Falcon who is far and away the best horse in the field, should win.

2. FIRM AGREEMENT is flying at present. His 2nd this trip followed by his 2nd in the Gr 1 Derby supports that. Should be charging late also.

3. PLYMOUTH has staying talent and is very fit. Was a handy 6th in the Gr 1 Derby last start giving the impression that he prefers this slightly shorter trip. Big show.

Tips: 1 – 2 – 3

1. If you watched CLEAN ENERGY closely last start when 4th behind She’s Got Pizazz over 1200m, you could only conclude she was unlucky. Slaughtered by a terrible ride more likely. Loves it damp, will get the box seat here and looks one of the best bets on the card.

2. LILAC was in that race too and beat Clean Energy home by a whisker. Is very fit, probably leads and will take running down as she is honest.

3. SNOW IN MAY is smart and will hit the line hard. She is also very fit and is trained here. Have in your numbers.

Tips: 1 – 4 – 3

1. Lots and lots of money has come in for CELUI in this following his stunning win over 1000m last start when resuming at Muswellbrook. It was done in fast time, he was 8th for home and carried 63kg. When resuming. This is harder but he has stakes form in Melbourne behind him and may be in for a terrifric prep.

2. Ir was hard not to like the return to racing of BALLROOM BELLA last start in a midweek race. She was simply too good. This is harder but she’s also fitter and probably spears out from this draw to be on pace all the way.

3. The Aussie trial of this English mare TOPANGA was very average but her northern hemisphere form is good including a stakes win. Watch market.

Tips: 3 – 5 – 1

1. If ENCAP can run this trip right out he should win. Has never raced over this journey but the way he stormed home for 3rd in the Gr 1 Doncaster Mile, which was many lengths harder than this, says he will handle the rise in journey. Looks back better than ever.

2. Yet another English import on Aussie debut here in KLONDIKE who can stay all day, has won twice on soft ground, is a Gr 3 winner and who has trialled very impressively. Watch betting as he may be pretty smart.

3. Old timer BOIS D’ARGENT is 3rd up and just loves the sting out of the ground. Is racing well enough and should be on speed all the way.

Tips: 3 – 4 – 2

1. This filly WITHIN THE LAW races like the trip will suit. Flashed home from a mile back when 3rd last week over 1200 in the Gr 2 Percy Sykes. They ran time and the winner, Tempted, is the best juvenile in the land. This followed her falling in the Gr 1 Golden Slipper. I think she settles midfield this time, will appreciate the slower midrace tempo, and because she finishes hard and is so fit, she can swamp them all.

2. STATE VISIT is the one she has to beat. He’s tough, is Gr 1 placed already and very fit. My concern with him is where does he get too in the run? Will he be wide. Either way, he is smart.

3. NEPOTISM appears to be a young man on a mission. Is improving all the time and will no doubt be suited to this journey. Have in your numbers.

4. BUFFALO is tough too and very fit. Was Gr 1 placed in good time over 1400m last start when flying home late. Big show.

Tips: 7 – 1 – 2 – 3

1. The way BRIASA won last start in the Gr 1 TJ Smith over 1200m in super fast time, suggests he will do the same to these. Looks outstanding and keeps on improving every run.

2. KIMOCHI is 3rd up here and looks well placed. Is more versatile than most of these and did hit the line well when 5th to Briasa last start in a super fast Gr 1. Loves this trip.

3. ANTINO is an absolute gun while fresh and the market will forget about him here. Resumes following a well beaten effort in Hong Kong at Gr 1 level and has been brought here for a first-up killing. Respect.

4. When MAGIC TIME was called on for her run in the Gr 1 TJ Smith, she went up along the inside which was the slowest past of the track and still wasn’t beaten all that far. Better suited this trip.

Tips: 2 – 11 – 1 – 9

1. MAZU draws a good marble here and loves the track damp. So, gets everything his way this time and is very fit. Should suit just behind the pace and will be right in the finish.

2. OSTRAKA is now ready. Draw is a slight worry as he may race wide but he is very fit now and when he is on, he is really hard to beat. Great 3rd this grade last start so respect him.

3. I would not be at all surprised to see ROYAL MERCHANT bob up into a place. Will be huge odds but on her day she can be right in this. Resumes here and goes ok fresh.

Tips: 5 – 7 – 8

1. Tough race to find a winner at the end of the day. Good luck. Perhaps have something on AMENABLE who at least gets the gun run behind the speed. Is 3rd up here and more than capable, especially with this 3kg claim, of being in this finish at each way odds.

2. Lots of money has come in for TAVI TIME who resumes here. Jay mac riding so has to be considered.

3. STRAIT ACER resumes here and has a great draw. Goes well on his day and likely to be running home hard.
