A Day At The Track – Gold Coast May 10

1. THE RIGHT WAY has yet to win this time up in 5 starts but man has he run well. Was up on speed all the way and ended up 2nd in a BM 90 last start over 1850m. Back in class here and may well lead these all the way.

2. HECTOR DE MARIS is a bit hit and miss but the best version of him can win this. Also on speed last start in a tougher BM 90 race and was beaten just 4 lengths. Is very fit now and should lob in a great spot on pace.

3. SHAZAD‘s form since coming to Australia from France where he raced in Group events, has been worful. Still, connections have him in Qld so they may expect something.

Tips: 4 -5 -1

1. METALART resumes here with an imposing record not only in this grade but overall. He’s tough and has won first up in the past. Looks set from this beautiful gate, to be in this at the finish. Can run in the wet too.

2. Money and quite a bit of it has come in overnight for JOHN RAMBO. He’s 2 from 2 this prep and although up a little in class, winning form is the best form.

3. If we like John Rambo then a place show must be considered for TOWN CRIER who finished 3rd to him last start. And, he drops 3.5kg here.

Tips: 2 – 8 – 12

1. Tony Gollan’s FLOOZIE ad a stack on her rivals last week when winning a weaker race at Eagle farm. Is going for 3 straight with quick back up here and the money says she can do it. Mare in form. Big show.

2. ADIELLA races like this will suit. She’s a get back let them burn out in front type who rallies late. Can run time and goes particularly well in the wet too. Has claims.

3. I’m throwing in RUSSIAN ALLIANCE for the 3rd spot here. She hasn’t won for a while but can run time and is fresh enough to finish hard here.

Tips: 11 – 12 – 6

1. MILLANE could swamp these at huge odds. Missed the start and with 60kg he had to sit back last before unleashing late in slightly weaker race to grab 5th last start. Likes it wet and drops 5.5kg here.

2. Consistency needs to be rewarded and so BOOM TORQUE looks that horse here. Blake Shinn, who rode 4 winners last time out, gets a sit. He’s drawn perfectly and loves this track. Resumes here but has been backed.

3. NEED SOME LUCK is a wonderfully bred horse from Sydney and he’s won his past 3, all in weaker grade. But, he’s fit and can handle wet. Has claims.

Tips: 9 – 3 – 12

1. They have stacked the cash on this emerging star from Sydney BEADMAN, named after that great, great hoop Darren Beadman. And, it’s fitting that Peter Snowden trains him as Darren rode many, many winners for Snowden. Brilliant winner last start and should be in this finish.

2. This filly SUNRAYS gives the impression that she’s a fighter who does enough to score. Has raced 3 times thius far for 3 wins, latest at Doomben. Keeps jumping the bar when raised and drops 3.5kg on last start win.

3. Big watch on this filly LUCKY LASS who resumes here. Won a very easy race on debut but did so as if there is something special about her. Respect.

Tips: 3 – 9 – 10

1. I just love this filly SPICY MARTINI. She scored for me first-up in weaker race at $9.00, bless her heart, last start and is fitter now. Has won 3 of her 4 starts and is improving all the time. Deserves to take this out.

2. EMIRATE has been heavily backed. Was scratched during the week from a race he looked a good thing in. Resumers here but the Waller – Jay Mac team is always hard to beat.

3. She only won a maiden last start but the way SILVER WEDDING did it suggests she may well be a stakes horse in the making. Finished hard after being in all sorts of bother and is fitter now.

1. Chris Waller holds all the aces in this race. His tough as teak LINDEMANN drives forward from this wide gate and settles in front. If left along he can kick hard as they turn. He’s rock solid and is going to be in front for a long way.

2. On pure talent alone BUCKAROO is the best horse and he’s 3rd up here in a race that looks ideal. Only beaten 5 lengths by Via Sistina last start and this is about his pet trip. Well tried too.

3. BOIS D’ARGENT loves it wet and gets a soft track here. And, he loves Brisbane racing this time of year. Led and smashed his rivals in easier race last start. Has claims.

Tips: 3 – 2 – 5

1. Lots of seemingly out of form runners in this so for that reason I’m on the consistent and honest PINITO. First look at this trip but she rattles home every start, great 2nd last run, and is very, very fit. Big show.

2. MERIDIANA battled on gamely when 3rd in that race Pinito was 2nd in last start. Been in Brisbane long enough now to acclimatise and should be in this late.

3. HEAT MISSILE will have to leave the gates in a hurry from this draw. Should lead and is getting better every run. Will take catching.

Tips: 4 – 5 – 6

1. I love consistency and this mare WANDA ROX is rather honest. Gets up just behind pace and fights hard down the straight. Is 4th up here, Noel Callow on top and he could win on a broomstick these days, so has to be considered.

2. NETTUNO has drawn deep so probably eases and then makes a late charge. Is capable and is 2nd up now. Has won 2nd up. Respect.

3. THE LUCKY ALIEN is fast. Has raced here twice and won both races under big weights but in much easier grade. Still, he’s fast and carries nothing this time. Should be in it for some time.
