Class 6 Hcp
1. A drop in grade here will turn SIBAAQ on and I suspect the 2kg weight allowance will too. Looks fit and well placed.
2. FELIX THE SCAT is 2nd up here after a great 4th in a similar event when resuming. Drawn well enough and should be right in the fray.
3. VICTORY WIN is a stablemate of Sibaaq and apart from a plodding 8th at this level last start on a bog track, his form had been good. Give another chance.
Tips: 1 – 4 – 2
The Star BM 78
1. DEEP RESPECT carried 60kg on a bog track last start when 2nd up and not beaten all that far when 7th this grade. Had previously while fresh finished hard over 1200m to fail by a nose. Expect a much improved effort.
2. HARBOURMASTER gets up on speed normally and always runs honestly. Resumes here and his first-up form is really strong. Respect.
3. FAT FINGERS is very fit and racing brilliantly but in weaker grade. That consistent form and honesty gives her a great show.
Tips: 2 – 4 – 15
Gr 3 Queen Elizabeth 11 Cup
1. IMMEDIACY is in a purple patch of form winning last start in fast time at Caulfield. That was 2nd win on the bounce and deserves a crack at this grade. Gets the services of Jay Mac.
2. HEZASHOCKER fronts up with 6okg here but he’s very smart when his heads in the game. Is fit now, has drawn perfectly and looks the testing material.
3. This is a massive rise in class for CAMPALDINO who has won his past two starts, latest on a slow track at Randwick in a BM 78. Led all the way that day. If left alone may take catching.
Tips: 3 – 2 – 14
Gr 3 Lord Mayors Cup
1. This just looks a good race for NEW ENDEAVOUR. He’s not racing at his very best but has been treated well at the weights and is likely to be up on speed. Is very fit and can easily handle this grade when on song.
2. TAVI TIME is talented and racing in career best form. Getting up in the weights now but last start win was very impressive. Has been heavily backed.
3. REGAL AZMON has won past 2 starts in Adelaide with powerful finishing bursts that are very impressive. Comes here in sparkling form and the trip should suit.
Tips: 5 – 1 -2
Gr 2 BRC Sires' Produce 2YO
1. This Sydney baby GALLO NERO looks the play. All of his main rivals have awkward draws yet he should bounce and sit about 7th with cover. Loved his first-up effort when flying from the back over 1200m and just missing behind the local superstar Cool Archie. Fitter now and looks a really good bet.
2. COOL ARCHIE has done nothing wrong – he is the benchmark winning 3 from 3 this prep including beating gallo Nero last start. Must be in your numbers.
3. Unbeaten Sydney colt AERODROME has a nice draw and is tough. Sits on speed and can run 1400m. Will be right in the finish too.
Tips: 2 – 3 – 7
Gr 3 Fred Best Classic 3YOs
1. Tough competitive race but I like the filly EL MORZILLO. She probably drops in about midfield hopefully with cover and being 3rd up she should be able to sprint hard late. Whenever she races against her own age she runs particularly well as shown last start with her win. Big danger.
2. Hard to assess ANGEL CAPITAL. He is very smart but has had a change of stable and resumes here. Drawn perfectly and the money has been strong for him.
3. EDITING is lightly raced but has talent and is now being 3rd up, very fit. Will get the run of the race and has strong claims as she can run on.
Tips: 15 – 2 – 18
Gr 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup
1. I always default to the best runner in tough, tight contests and that horse is GIGA KICK. If he runs his best he wins comfortably and his first-up 3rd in a Gr 1 in Adelaide over 1200m a few weeks back says he is close to producing his best. The trip looks ideal and soft ground is no barrier.
2. JOLIESTAR has been very heavily backed and she is a star on her day. She showed that by her Gr 1 Newmarket win over 1200m. Nice run last start when 2nd in a similar race to this. Sure to be flying home.
3. BENEDETTA runs well in any race she is in. Is very fit and will give your money a great run. Drawn nicely too.
4. GOLDEN MILE may be ready to go bang. Since being gelded he has taken time to find his feet but that 3rd last start was a really strong effort as he made great ground late in a similar field.
Tips: 1 – 10 – 12 – 4
Gr 1 Queensland Derby 3YO
1. I’m going for honesty and consistency here with STATUARIO who has done some travelling. The Victorian won at Caulfield in a 3YO, then was a good, solid 2nd in the Gr 1 SA Derby over 2500m. Drawn to get a great run and is sure to be right in the finish.
2. I have a feeling this Vic galloper POLITELY DUN might be headed to stardom. He can really fly late as he showed at Flemington last start on a soft track over 2000m. Longer trip doesn’t pose a problem either does the wide gate as he drops out. Have in your numbers at big odds.
3. LAVALIER is most consistent and is always in the finish. Placed at p[ast 3 runs including solid 3rd in the Tr 1 SA Derby. Chance again.
4. BEAU DAZZLER was a local star last prep and is 3rd up here. Will be huge odds but no surprise to me to see him right in this as he is tough.
Listed MM Coughlan Stakes F&M
1. KIN is a smart mare who sprints well and is 3rd up here after 2 placings in fast races. Looks a standout.
2. Forget INFANCY went around in the mud last start when 5th in a similar race. Is 3rd up here and can finish like a train.
3. Sydney mare VIENNA PRINCESS resumes here and will be about $31. I’m having her in my exotics because on her day she is very good, and has raced in much better fields than this.
Tips: 7 – 2 – 9
