Sky Racing BM 85
1. Had to like the way METALART ran on while exhausted when resuming last start this grade. Finished 5th, gets 2kg weight relief and is fitter now. Big show.
2. NATIONAL CHOICE comes to hand quickly and is very honest. Nash to partner here and was strong 5thy when resuming last start. Has solid claims.
3. GUMDROPS is resuming. But the booking of Mark Zahra and the scratchings bring her into consideration. Did win a Gr 3 last year.
Tips: 1 – 3 – 9
The Star BM 85 Hcp
1. Everything points to THE INFLICTOR being the one here. Has the rails draw, Nash rides, is 3rd up after two great runs and is super fit. Plus, he’s been well tried. I like him.
2. SIR ARTIE is another drawn really well and the draw will suit his style of racing. Won at The farm in good time just before spell. Resumes here with 2 trials under his belt. The Archibald team this far in Qld have been going extremely well. Respect.
3. TAVS is in form but rises in grade. Has been well found in the betting and does look a great chance for 3rd win on the bounce.
Tips: 5 – 12 – 13
Listed Bill Carter Stks 2yo fillies
1. This filly SUNRAYS won 3 in a row then was spelled. Resumed in a tough race last start and ran on gamely for 2nd, albeit well beaten by the flying Beadman. This looks easier and she is fitter. 3 starts this track for 3 wins thus far. Must be considered.
2. HA’PENNY HATCH has a heap of talent and likes to run on. This looks a perfect race. Has won 2 of 3 and latest start was a game 2nd in a similar race. Big show.
3. KAHLUA GIRL has raced 4 times and is yet to win a race but does hit the line well and this trip should benefit her. Was making solid ground last start when 6th to the flying Beadman. Fit and ready to run boldy.
Rips: 1 – 2- 7
Listed Chief de Beers
1. As a punter it’s always exciting when you see a horse who is just ready to go bang. And I think SPACEWALK is that horse today. He’s had 3 starts this time up, the best of them last time out in a similar race when he hit the line hard for 3rd. Jay Mac rides and he looks beautifully placed.
2. The toppie CANNONBALL is almost in that same bracket. He’s 3rd up here and last start was doing his best work at the end when 5th to Libertad in a similar race. Is fitter now.
3. The track will be damp and NETTUNO loves it wet. Good 3rd last start at Ipswich and he’s 3rd up here.
Tips: 2 – 1 – 5
Darby Munro 3YO
1. Hard to go past the class of the field MAYFAIR. He resumes here but has raced against horses way, wy better than his rivals. Looks a special.
2. LEAD ME ON resumes here at a big price but his recent trial form is outstanding. And, when he was last in work, he too raced well against better rivals.
3. Jay Mac jumps onto AMELITA who has drawn off the track. He does have talent and has been freshened for this following a handy run in a big field at Flemington last start. Place show.
Tips: 1 – 2- 3
Gr 3 Magic Millions F&M Mile
1. Although SOCKS NATION mixes her form, she is a gr 1 winner and as such commands respect. Well beaten when resuming at Hawkesbury in a similar race but is fitter now and doers love racing in Qld. Huge each way threat.
2. THALASSOPHILE was resuming in that same H’bury race and was doing best work late when 8th. She finished alongside of Socks Nation. Fitter and better suited here.
3. The last couple of runs by PULCHRIUDINOUS have been weak. But, she resumes here, has won a recent trial and there is no way Gai and Adrian would bring her north is she wasn’t over her past issues. Watch market.
Tips 1 – 6 – 2
Gr 2 The Roses 3YO fillies
1. Very hard to go past winning form that has subsequently been franked. So I’m on PHILIA. She’s won her past 3 in a row, latest beating last start winner Pinito. Drawn to get a good run.
2. BENAGIL is also firing on all 4 cylinders but she has drawn the car park and will need all of Mark Zahra’s guile to get past that. Is very consistent and loves this bgrade.
3. VERONA ROSE is talented and can run on. Probably sits about midfield and should outkick a good few of these who have drawn poorly and who will be tired.
Tips: 6 – 1- 5
Gr 1 Doomben Cup
1. PRIDE OF JENNI is the star attraction and best horse in the land on her day. Is this her day? I think yes and she leads all the way.
2. ANTINO is a star when Blake Shinn rides him as he showed last start winning easily and back last year in Melb when winning a Gr 1. Is the testing material because Blake rides again.
3. FAWKNER PARK loves this trip and is super fit now. Probably presses forward and sits in 3rd spot until they turn. Grinds home hard.
4. Chris Waller’s KOVALICA is hitting his straps at the rightr time. Fitter now after great 3rd this level last start. Big show.
Tips: 12 – 1 – 3 – 7
Gr 3 BRC Sprint
1. There is a great deal of pace in this so I think RISE AT DAWN can take advantage of that. He should drive forward and perhaps sit in 3rd, in the box seat. He is tough and has been freshened since his game 4th in the Gr 1 Doncaster. Big show.
2. YELLOW BRICK is a local legend who resumes here but has had a few trials and looks good. Worth a shout.
3. WAR MACHINE is racing well. Finished hard in good time to win Open race at Caulfield last start over 1400m. Big danger.
Tips: 5 – 1 – 11
