A Day At The Track – Cranbourne 22 November

Leila Rose BM 70

Cranbourne Race 1 (1300m) 12:20 am

1. Winning form is the most appropriate to use when assessing and this mare MADIYYA had a picket fence unravelling before spelling. Won a recent jump out to show she is back and has been supported overnight.

2. Her stablemate STEALTH OF NIGHT looms large as the main rival. Also resumes and is up in class but must be impressing at home because money has rolled in.

3. PRINCE TYCOON has drawn wide but looks perfectly placed. If he gets in he can figure in this finish.

Tips: 3 – 7 – 6

Colin Alderson Classic 3YO

Cranbourne Race 2 (1400m) 12:50 pm

1. The only win thus far for MONGOLIAN GOBI was in a Sale Maiden, and 3 runs since have been good with a couple of placings at the provincials. Recent jump outs have been solid but the key influencer here is the money – it has rolled in for this bloke. Take that in.

2. KATSUMI OROCHI has a win this prep but was pretty average ina tougher race last start. Fitter now and many suspect a vastly improved performance here.

3. The whole Godolphin team is on fire and CAFFETTIER should keep that momentum going. Up in class here but nice maiden win last start.

Tips: 5 -2 -7

Rhino The Wrecker BM 70

Cranbourne Race 3 (2540m) 1:25 pm

1. These Patrick and Michelle Payne trained stayers also show up when presented so I’m on BLACK PEPPERMINT in this. Is very fit, great 3rd this grade last start and is 4th up. Hard to beat.

2. HOT TOO GO is also in a strong staying stable and Craig Williams rides. All that means from this gate he’s a great hope.

3. PROCHESTER is up in class a bit here but ran a great 2nd indicating fitness is good and is ready to run a blinder in this.

Tips: 6-7-14

Rosemont Pendant Females

Cranbourne Race 4 (1400m) 2:00 pm

1. KEEP YOUR COOL is very fit and honest. Bad draw here but has the class to overcome it and should be in the firing line late.

2. MERRIGOLD is very smart. Poor run in Gr 3 last start when beaten 5 lengths. Easier here and is a whole lot fitter. Big show.

3. Two solid jump out wins recently mean EXTREME VIRTUE is ready to go bang. Craig Williams booking is a big push too. Watch market.

Tips: 1-2-3

Shooting Stars Cl 3 Set Weights

Cranbourne Race 5 (1500m) 2:35 pm

1. Team Freedman present their exciting youngster YES I KNOW. resumes here but won 2 x easier races just before spell and looks well placed.

2. ACELUM is on fire winning past 3 starts and has drawn well. Has also been given a lot of weight. Must be considered though.

3. BIG SEXY is in form and is 4th up. Drawn nicely and should be right in this finish.

Tips: 4-1-2

The Lester BM 84

Cranbourne Race 6 (2025m) 3:10 pm

1. Money has come in for what looks like the best horse in the race, namely SHOCKLETZ. Won first-up then nice 5th in better race last start. Looks perfectly placed.

2. At The Valley when resuming over a mile last start HURRY CURRY went right back to last but rattled home for 3rd. Inside draw this time, longer trip and she is fitter. Big show.

3. HOWLIN’ RAIN carries topweight but did win at Moe last start over similar trip so you know he’s fit and ready.

Tips: 5-8-1

Lawson Poole Plate BM 80

Cranbourne Race 7 (1200m) 3:45 pm

1. Craig Williams is back in the saddle for MYTEMPTATION here and that’s what swayed me. Was narrowly beaten at The Valley this grade then went to Ararat with Willow and was again 2nd. Fit and ready for this.

2. STOLI BOLLI boasts the most consistent form and as such looms as the one to beat again. Well supported overnight too.

3. Down the bottom, ACTUALITY looks ready to run well here. Did win an easier race 2 starts back and the lightweight here helps.

Tips: 1-3-10

Cranbourne Cup

Cranbourne Race 8 (1600m) 4:25 pm

1. The way WARNIE has been racing of late he deserves to win a big race. Like his namesake he just keeps delivering and last start was a gutsy effort in a similar field. He won over 1400m in a GFr 2 running very fast time. Has a huge weight but looms large.

2. STEPARTY was a dual nominee in Sydney as well but connections chose this race. Must be going well and when dual, they always show up.

3. SABAJ is lightly raced but is showing enormous talent. Came from the clouds to win this trip in easier race. Can handle wet and does finish hard. Light weight helps here.

Tips: 1- 2- 15

Meteorite

Cranbourne Race 9 (1200m) 5:05 pm

1. I just can’t go past class and although resuming ARKANSAW KID is the class runner in this. Probably jumps well and settles in about 6th spot to the turn, then being fresh, he will respond and finish too hard.

2. STRETAN ANGEL is a bit of a gay deceiver. When she is on she is Gr 1 class but she also occasionally throws in some awful efforts. Take on trust but certainly have her in your numbers because she can sprout wings on her day.

3. Because JIGSAW is racing in career best form, and is trained here, you must have him too. Likes to lead, and won a Gr 2 at Moonee Valley last start.

Tips: 1- 11- 2

Whiffin Sprint BM 74

Cranbourne Race 10 (1000m) 5:40 pm

1. CODIGO is very fast and well placed here. Big weight but is in form and is 3rd up so is cherry rips. Runner-up past 2 runs, latest similar grade at Flemington.

2. Unbeaten BIANCELLI has blown since markets opened but is too good to overlook. Won 3 from 3. Resumes here but has twice from 2 won first up. Looks a threat.

3. Former Sydney mare CELERITY is yet another Godolphin star who is in a new stable. Showed ability in NSW in weaker races and gets in here with a light weight.

Tips: 3- 9- 13
