A Day At Caulfield – Saturday

1. XTRA RUSH is on the rise. Can stay and will appreciate this trip. Is 3rd up here and with the 1.5kg claim looms the largest.

2. FOUJITA SAN will be tough. Did finish in front of Xtra Rush last start when resuming and should strip fitter. Drawn perfectly.

3. FURIOUS mixes form but this grade seems to suit and is very fit.

Tips: 7-1-6

1. OH TOO GOOD is resuming here and has a great fresh record. She also looks thrown in here under the set weights criteria. Bound to be very well supported and looks hard to beat.

2. Very good money has come in since markets went up for AMEENA. She too resumes but has the rails and the money is compelling.

3. Godolphin’s PHOTOGRAPH is also first-up but raced in nice strong company last prep and held her own. Is probably a length or so better now she has matured.

Tips: 1-3-7

1. Am I missing something here? VEIGHT comes up as an $8.00 chance. On past efforts he should be $2.15. I think he blows these away.

2. HARRY’S YACHT, who won here this trip in slow time last start is in form and is all the rage so must be considered.

3. ENXUTO is in form and been placed this company at 3 of past 4 starts so must be included among the main hopes.

1. Winning form is best form and BOSSY BENITA won last start here at this trip. Is 3rd up into this so everything points to her winning.

2. MERRIGOLD is the model of consistency at this level and always races honestly. Must be considered.

3. BEWITCHERY has the good draw and has won 2 of past 3 starts. Well tried overnight so have in your numbers.

Tips: 1-2-9

1. I normally wouldn’t be tipping a maiden winner on top in this but the way HIGH ON THE HILL sat behind the speed then raced away to win at Kilmore suggests there is a racehorse here. And, to underline that, he has been backed off the map to win this.

2. WINTERY has been racing in better grade and racing well enough to say he makes an impression in this too.

3. Gotta love the way PURPLE STREAK performed on debut winning maiden at Werribee by over 5 lengths. He too has been well tried and has a great gate.

Tips: 6-1-5

1. I’m going with the weight pull here. BUILLT carried 63kg when chasing home the well fancied Sir Atlas at Wangaratta last start. There was a length between them at the end and he meets Sir Atlas 2kg better in this.

2. Obviously, SIR ATLAS who is 3rd up and ready to peak, looms as the one to beat. And the money has been strong for him also.

3. SHE’S IMPECCABLE is going for 3 wins on the trot here. Won under 60.5kg at Terang in a BM 56, then up in class to a BM 62 and won again at Ararat. This is harder but drops 6.5kg.

Tips: 1-2-6

1. MILSON’S POINT was always back and wide when not pushed out and near last in the Gr 1 Blue Diamond here. Was runner-up in Prelude start prior proving he can run. This is a lot easier and if he gets cover mid-race, he can fly late.

2. Sydney filly MISS CHANEL raced last week and placed. She is already a stakes placegetter too, but bad draw here and the quick backup after travelling from Sydney are tough to overcome. Still, she has class.

3. LAGUNANINI showed pace and fought to win a provincial maiden on debut last start. Has the rails draw so should be handy saving ground all the way.

Tips: 1-10-11

1. BUCKAROO wins this for fun if he’s in the mind to do so. Everything looks picture perfect for him. Great run for 2nd when resuming last start in a better race.

2. LIGHT INFANTRY MAN has the rails draw and is in form winning last start. Will be on or near pace all the way. Is a Gr 1 winner and looks well placed.

3. BIRDMAN has had 2 runs this prep and did win an easier race last start. Is being prepared for the Gr 1 Caulfield Cup so this is a nice stepping stone. Has claims.

Tips: 2-1-5

1. Under the weight scale SALTY PEARL looks a major threat. She is very fit, has been racing well against better horses, is on a quick back up, drawn nicely and well, her honesty and class get her home for mine.

2. VEYEPEE has raced twice for 2 wins in much easier grade but won them well. Bred to love this journey.

3. DIFFERENT GRAVY probably drops back to find cover. He is strong late and has won at this track. Resumes in that but watch market.

Tips: 12-7-1

1. JIGSAW has the big weight and a tricky gate but I see him charging straight to trhe front and leading all the way. Has won 13 races, over $2million in prizemoney and has strung 4 wins on the trot together. Too fast for these I think.

2. PERILOUS FIGHTER won at Flemington over 1100m, then 4th there last start over 1000m making good ground late. Extra trip here suits.

3. NDOLA has been well tried and is in great form.
