Moruya R1 – Open Mdn Hcp 1425m Â
Not a very strong maiden which is why I think the improving front-runner, TSARINA, can land the chocolates. The odds-on fav ONE MAN BAND is 3rd up and has placed in this grade at past four starts. But he’s your quintessential gunna horse. He’s a herd horse who just follows the leader around. And that leader today should be TSARINA. On an improving track she should jump straight on the bunny. Last start did that on a heavy 8 and was only grabbed in the last 100m. Will slip away as they turn today. And, most importantly, is also 3rd up. Quinella them.

Scone R5 –Â Cl 2 Hcp 1300mÂ
This looks a good betting race. Ever since Cameron Crockett took over the training of this mare CHOMEUR she has grown a leg. Back when trained in Victoria they tried her as a stayer and she was too weak for that. Crockett has her sprinting. Coming from near last type of sprinter and big tracks like this will suit her. She is trained here actually. Will get to the centre and storm home. Has won two and placed once from last four runs.

Moruya R6 – Open Hcp 1200m Â
Interesting race. Surely old UP TRUMPZ lands the prize today. He’s weighted as if it were a strong open bush hcp but it isn’t and I think that makes him very hard to beat. Mind you, he hasn’t won for a long time, but his past three efforts have all been placings and he should find the centre of the track and charge home today. Really keen on him. PEYTON PLACE probably leads into the straight and may keep bobbing for 2nd first-up. Nice race.
