Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s big Gilgandra meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!

Track: Heavy 9

Lots of intrigue in this race. The crazy short run to the first turn here means the horses who can jump and run get a decided advantage. So for that reason I’m on RHYTHMIC SONG. He has raced 7 times thus far and placed 3 of them at this level. On a couple of occasions he led the field. This prep he is 3rd up and appears a bit stronger. From this gate he can jump and lead these. Gets a welcome 1.5kg allowance too so comes in perfectly on many levels. I do think at huge odds that SOOZIE MAREE might run a much better race too. She was well beaten on debut but has had time to grow and mature.

Interesting race. I have my doubts about CORVO running a strong mile so for that reason I’m all over NEON MOON in this. he is solid, honest and is 3rd up here after a couple of sound runs this grade – one of them when 3rd in a  race Corvo was 2nd in. Should strip a lot fitter here and he loves the mud. Can lead too which is an asset for a race around this little track. I would think having them in a quinella bet is a sound idea too as Corvo is handy this grade.

The change of track, the heavy surface and the scratchings have robbed this race of some intrigue but six runners do battle. I like the mare MILAMOO. She is in form and her failure last start in the Queen of the South should be overlooked as she carried a huge weight and really wasn’t all that far away. Way easier task with lighter weight here and mid race she should settle beautifully. WHATSIN can dash late for 2nd.  Quinella them.
