Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN previews Saturday’s Randwick , with horse racing tips and analysis for all 10 races on the card. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 10
Rail Position: Out 9m entire
This bush horse GALLANT STAR hasn’t been in the wet but my word his only two starts have been impressive. He has loads of speed and has won his only 2 runs very easily. Obviously harder here but if he turns in front he may take catching.
MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO led and wilted last start this level when well tried last start. Is 3rd up here and is a stakes placegetter so has to be considered.
This filly LUNA VOLANTI has raced and has wheels and seems to be improving with each outing. On speed and way too good winning Muswellbrook in the mud maiden last start.
Tip: MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO
Randwick R2 – Cl 3 Highway Hcp 1400m
Two runs this time up have been two wins for KLOPP who is up in class here but racing so well.
TAGS is just a professional placegetter this level. Always hits the line hard and should do again in this.
RUNNING BEAR is so consistent. Has been up a long time but last time here on a very heavy track at this trip, she was on speed all the way she ran 2nd. Can lead all the way.
Tip: RUNNING BEAR
Randwick R3 – BM72 (3YO) 1400m
LEASE is 3rd up and on a track that will suit. Used to be trained here actually. Both starts this time up have been strong efforts being on speed all the way and just missing. Down in class a little here and is fitter. Big danger.
AND WE DANCED has her foot on the till after two great placings when well supported this grade. Will sit back in about 4th spot to the bend from this great gate. Bound to make her presence felt.
JOURNALISM is fast and fit now. Won and placed twice this level since resuming and is trained here. Big show. Bound to raise a strong gallop late.
Tip: AND WE DANCED
It will be so interesting to see how this troubled but highly talented CADRE DU NOIR goes here. He’s had just 12 starts and is a rising 7 year old. He has raced just twice since Oct 2020 and he looks beautifully placed on his best form in this if he is right. Watch market.
This TINNIE WINNIE is racing in great form and is very honest. Loves it heavy too and Hughie rides. Sure to be running 2nd or 3rd all the way and is very fit.
Her stablemate KIRKEBY is going to relish this track too and should rattle home late.
Tip: TINNIE WINNIE
After three really strong runs in weaker grade CRUEL SUMMER stepped up to this level and ran a creditable 6th. Is very fit, Hughie rides this time and has drawn perfectly. Big danger.
CHATEAUX PARK is that model of consistency at this level. He is very fit and extremely honest. Will be about 13th turning for home but probably angles wide and will charge late.
SPROUT WINGS is ready to pounce also. Is very fit and ran a cracking 4th in this grade last start. The trifecta in this race could pay anything.
Tip: 1. CHATEAUX PARK
Randwick R6 – BM 78 (3YO+males) 1100m
The way 3kg apprentice Ellen Hennessy is riding at present, her claim will be a massive help to the chances of the in form EASY SINGLE in this. Drawn perfectly, is 3rd up, coming off two great runs – yeah looks a major player.
SNOWZONE, courtesy of some recent really solid finishing efforts at this level, rates highly. Last start in particular, on a very heavy track in this grade, he came from near last to just fail. Very fit now.
CONSCRIPT has drawn off the track but is 2nd up and just only knows how to try. Bound to run a big race.
Tip: 1. EASY SINGLE
Randwick R7 – Bm88 (3YO+) Hcp 1200m
What a terrific race. It does look like the lowly weighted horses are the play here.
SNIPPY FOX who is 2nd up, can be considered a good chance based on wins last prep and the good 4th this grade when resuming.
WAIHAHA FALLS is very smart and bolted in when resuming last start in a weaker race. Gets in with no weight on his back here and looks the winner.
EL BUENA is smart enough and now that he is 4th up, looks well placed.
Tip: 1. WAIHAHA FALLS
Randwick R8 – Listed $160k Winter Stakes (3YO+) Hcp 1400m
Nice race. TAKSU is racing lights out this prep and seems to be improving each start. Hardest test here but loves it wet so rates very highly.
JOJO WAS A MAN has grabbed a fair share of fan attention with his gutsy wins in weaker grade. Three from his past four starts in fact and with this light weight and his fighting qualities he looks hard to beat. If so, can win this.
GROVE FERRY is yet to win in Australia but may just do so here. Is a smart English horse who did run 5th in the Gr Villiers last prep. Word is he is flying this time up. Comes here off a nice 8th when resuming in a similar race and is fitter now.
Tip: 1. TAKSU
Randwick R9 – BM78 (3YO+females) Hcp 1100m
This looks so open, probably 4 million chances. SIEGE is all the race and she looks the winner here too. Just has a powerful will to win and has taken out four of her five race starts including a n impressive won last start. Is 3rd up and gets a 2kg claim. Very had to beat. Big show.
RUBINOCCHI is so honest she just puts in every run and should again here as she is in form and very fit.
WONDERWOMAN steps into the ring with a couple of really tough ones but she is making inroads of her own winning past two in weaker grade. Hits the line hard.
Tip: 1. SIEGE
Randwick R10 – BM78 (3YO +) Hcp 1400m
Near impossible to work out. So, so many chances, so I’ll go on form.
The speed will be on from the outset. CROSS TALK for instance probably makes the most of it and he is in great form so on home track will take catching. Wet track may play into his hands by this stage of the day.
NIKAU SPUR is tough and honest and hits the wire hard. Is 4th up and two placings in recent starts this grade make him a real threat. Drawn well too.
BLESK will be all the better for a first up 7th in this company beaten 3 lengths. Remember, he won brilliantly when 2nd up last campaign.
