Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN previews Saturday’s Randwick , with horse racing tips and analysis for all 10 races on the card. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Rail Position: Out 9m from 1600m to w/p, 7m remainderÂ
Not the strongest juvenile Saturday race we’ve seen but it will be competitive. TYMPANIST Â raced last start over 1400m on a heavy track winning at Hawkesbury by just going bang late. Clearly the trip and wet track are a good combo for him. Keep him safe.
HONEYCREEPER does look very hard to beat here. She’s had just two starts this time up and last start in a race that probably was a length of two better than this she was making impressive ground late to finish 4th. Super fit now, back against her own age group and she should be flying home.
WAR ETERNAL is a maiden but not for too long going on his game 2nd in this grade last start. Today is his 3rd start, he is fast early, and is now ready to run a blinder.
Tip: HONEYCREEPER
Randwick R2 – Â Cl 2 Highway Hcp 1200m
So many chances in this. ANETHOLE is getting close to a win. Gets back and does run on. Finished 7th in a Highway last start making good ground late. Was only 3 lengths back at the end and can handle the wet track. Respect.
The fascinating galloper is MR HUSSILL. He is a rising 6YO and has had just 3 race starts. And 2 trainers. He resumes here having not raced for 2 years and he is in the hardest race he’s ever been in. Plus, he has never set foot on a heavy track during a race. He hasn’t won any of his recent 3 trials to date. But keep safe. There’s a reason he’s town. Â May surprise.
LADY RIVER looks very talented. After scoring a pair of impressive Scone winners she came to town and after getting well back in a Cl 3 Highway, she rattled home late to grab 3rd. Â Big show.
Tip: ANETHOLE
Randwick R3 – Bm72 Hcp 1200m
VRENELI has a big weight but also a big heart. Won 3 of 4 last campaign and his only start this time up was a solid 5th. Strips much fitter here and is on home track. Looks very classy.
DIAMONDS’N’STONES resumes here. Awkward draw but to counter that gets a 2kg weight allowance. Did win last 3 before spell and may sprint well fresh.
FASTCONI is another one on the rise. S has had many start this time up and all of them have been top notch at around this level. Sure to run on too.
Tip: FASTCONI
ZING is just one those really, really honest types who put in every start. Up in weight here but is in form and won well last start similar grade. Â Gives the impression this trip will suit.
Speaking of honest gallopers this bloke O’MUDGEE is just that. Not only does he always put in but he is improving every run. Has scored twice this grade from past 3 runs. Must be in your numbers.
LA CHEVALEE is handy too and has been unlucky at past few. Drawn the fence here, has the top jock on and should charge late.Respect. Looms very large.
Tip: LA CHEVALEE
Randwick R5 – BM78 Hcp (3YO+) 1600m
This old MORTON’S FORK needs just $50,000 to become a millionaire prize money earner. And on the strength of his first-up 6th last start, he may well go close this race. Gets back but is well weighted given his past form.
PAPAL WARRIOR is the form horse. He has come home hard to win his past two, both in similar races to this and is just flying at present. Getting up in the weights but form is too good to look past. Big show.
MATOWATAKPE has been handy for a while without winning but the way he chinned in late to score last start in a slightly easier race suggests he may have gone to the next level. If so, is very hard to beat. Â Is very fit.
Tip: 1. PAPAL WARRIOR
Randwick R6 – BM72 Midway Hcp 1200m
You just could not have missed the way CATAPULT put in late last start when resuming from a spell. It was in a Midway and he was 13th for home, beaten just under 2 lengths when 4th. Looks back better than ever and has wet track form.
JUST FIELD is bred to love the mud and did look strong at the end of his Midway last start when running 2nd. Gets a wet track again here. Big danger.
WANDER is also 2nd up. Impressive when 3rd in a Highway last start when resuming. Strips fitter and has drawn perfectly to get a great cart into this race.
Tip: 1. JUST FIELD
Randwick R7 – BM88 (3YO +) Hcp 1800m
What a terrific race. OPACITY has run himself into form again winning at good odds two starts back then backing it up with a solid 4th at this level. Gets a 2kg claim and has drawn the fence. Big danger.
TORYJOY is going to run a blinder today. She has drawn deep so no doubt charges across and leads. Today I suspect she will take an enormous amount of catching too. Have in your numbers..
GREAT HOUSE was 2nd up last start and looked in need of the run when 3rd at this level over this trip. He just failed to accelerate at the 300m mark but he ground home well. Much fitter now. Watch market.
Tip: 1. GREAT HOUSE
Randwick R8 – BM88 Hcp 1400m
This guy OSCAR ZULU can followed again. The handicapper has banged on 3kg following his impressive win in a BM 88 last start, marking his 3rd straight win. Is charging through the grades and loves it wet, and is very fit.
MIRRA VISION, similarly, can’t be faulted on form. Has won 2 of 3 this time up and is hitting the line hard. Likes it wet. Big danger.
BLONDEAU can hit the line very hard. Is a bit in and out but on his day, would swamp these. Stablemate to Oscar Zulu.
Tip: 1. OSCAR ZULU
Randwick R9 – Bm78 Hcp (F&M) 1400m
I think you just have to hope she ploughs through the mud OK again if on EXPAT here. Her form of late suggests she will and with the 2kg claim for Tom Sherry she just might be the best weighted horse on the card. Will get out and lead and lead all the way.
STEEL DIAMOND has run two solid races this time up and is now ready to win. Both efforts have been strong late. Big chance in this.
The fly in the ointment for Expat could be FORTUNE SEEKER. She is lightly raced but is also very fast and has led in all her races to date. Has won 3 of 5 starts to date and last start led when resuming and was a game 3rd in a BM 72. is fitter now too.
Tip: 1. EXPAT
Randwick R10 – BM78 Hcp 1000m
I AM POWER is a good horse and despite huge weight on a very heavy track like he did last start this grade, he might just be too good for them. Perfectly drawn too.
HANDSPUN resumes here off a disappointing campaign last time in. Has a lot of talent this grade. If she is ready to run up to his talent she can smoke these. Big danger but watch betting.
VAN GIZ is tough and on the improve. Can run with them on pace all the way and last start she finished hard to win in the mud too.
